i will have to take it to a garage, i hate to because they take advantage of females. my brother put the sensors on for me and it ran fine before we did that.so could i put the old oxygen sensors back on? the new ones were bosch.

the ign. interlock is for dui offenders.if more than one since 10/2002. installed in with the ign. somehow. you have to turn key on it says warming up, turn off key then blow through to show no alcohol present. then the car will start. maybe connected to the coil.it's required by law to get licence reinstated.you have to blow into it again after 15 min.s and again in 30 min.s so on...so forth eery time you start your car.

the divice is an ignition interlock you turn on the switch the device says warming-up, turn off switch then blow into it to show no alcohol present on breath, then car will start. it is installed into the switch, somehow.

Sounds like whatever you had added is not wired correctly. If you just replaced the factory interlock you would not have a problem with the factory system.
If the old O2 sensors were bad and you replaced them new, the problems should have gone away. It would have been a coincidence. But you have further problems, it may indicate that something else was hurt that first damaged the O2 sensors and continued on to damage another unknown component.

You should take the car back to the shop where the O2 sensors were installed, as they may have unhooked something else and left something controlling the idle unhooked. Take it back to the shop which did the interlock device once you find out what was damaged. They broke it, they should pay for it.

Now the O2 sensors can have a big effect on how the engine idles. So can a dirty EGR valve. You need to have a different scanning machine hooked up to your car. The larger $$ units tell more while the smaller units will usually read the Error Codes from the onboard computer. You want a machine that reads ALL the info, because the Code reader type will draw a blank if there is no Code present.

Also there are devices which a mechanic can hook up and drive your car with it connected. Then any problem is recorded as it happens. This added info can find the problem where the cheaper scanners can not.

Testimonial: "i will take it to bachmans next week.they deal chryslers thank you for the advice. "

i had a friend to take the two new o2 sensors off and put my old ones back on. problem solved.

Glad you managed to fix it. Would seem that new O2 sensors were bad, but you should get a refund for those parts. The connections may have been dirty in the first place.

SOURCE: My 2003 PT cruiser's engine light came on, then

Find your air mass flow sensor in the stiff collar of the air ducting immediately after the air filter. Have the engine running and disconnect the plug to the MAF. If this makes the car run evenly again you need to replace the broken MAF. The misfire on plug 4 I think is a downstream event of the MAF not sending the right info to the ECU and consequently not providing the right fuel / air mix to the engine

SOURCE: I have a 2005 pt

Thisa sounds like a worn TPS on the throttle body. Although there are literally dozens of sensors that provide critical data to the engine management computer of a modern, fuel-injected engine, few are actually adjustable, or can be affected by adjustments of related components. The throttle position sensor, often referred to as the TP sensor or TPS, is one of these rare devices.

It is important to get to know the function and servicing of this sensor for a couple of reasons. As with any electro-mechanical moving part, they have been known to malfunction or ultimately just plain wear out. Besides that, they are often victims of improper service procedures. These procedures will either result in damage to the sensor, or impair its range of operation. In any event, a malfunctioning, damaged, or misadjusted TPS will cause a variety of driveablility symptoms, often accompanied by a check engine MIL (malfunction indicator light) displayed on the instrument panel.

You can follow this vidio and see how to check the TPS if it needs replacing and how to set the new one up to operate correctly. Just click onto the provide link below & good luck!

SOURCE: 2004 pt cruiser keeps setting DTC's P0032 & P0038 ,sensors have been replaced with NTK

Hello, First, you have to clear some of the Codes with a scanner or wait after 25-35 start-ups for the information to cycle out of the system.

Next, make sure you have replaced the correct Bank or lower or upper sensor when there can be 4 sensors on the exhaust.

The wiring running to your sensors may be bad. Also, if anyone has fooled with the wiring to the sensors, some have cooling tubes which are embedded in the wiring. Sometimes people rewire the connectors to fit different O2 sensor plug-ins and the cooling tube is cut. When these plug-ins are manipulated this way the sensors overheat.

I can't say offhand about how your PT cruiser has its wires configured into junction connectors. They may be replaceable junctions or may be moulded into the housing of the O2 control unit as 1 piece.

You will need to ask at an Autoparts store or go to a Salvage yard and try to find a harness you can use. It is not impossible that the sensors you purchased could be bad. You should be able to get some sort of continuity value from the prong connectors on the O2 sensors to see if you have a circuit in the part.

I hope my solution is helpful, perhaps a Chrysler mechanic will answer you.

Had this problem. The crankshaft position sensor (on 2003 non-turbo) is located directly under the starter. The Haynes and Chilton books will tell you the complete opposite. They state that it is located near the alternator. WRONG. Oh, it is really a pain to get to FYI.
