Oxygen sensor 2004 Verona

I have taken my car to a machanic with the engine light on...I do know that my float on the gas tank is not correct and reads 1/2 after 50 miles but he stated that one of my oxygen sensors is bad and that he will have to take
the bottom of the engine off.. Stated that they were all in the same location
so i might as well replace them all...He quoted 1,000 to do...Where are they and can i do this myself?

You must have a check or service engine light on if any sensor is malfunctioning if no engine light is present then i suggest nothing is wrong!?

sorry you quoted eng light is on! i over looked that yes as a routine ma int you should replace them together usually after you do the one tried the eng light 9x out of 10 a month later your doing the next one! and so on but if you can not afford to replace all in one shot then replace only what is required second garage opinion is always a wise investment it is worth the hour you will spend seeking.

You will be able to do it yourself, just rent the O2 sensor sockets from Advance Auto, (they are free). Some of them are tough to get at but it will be well worth the 700 dollars you will save by doing it yourself. They are located behind the engine in between the firewall on the exhaust manifold.

How many oxygen sensors does a 2004 Suzuki Verona have and where are they?

You would have Four of them. There are Two Upstream for Cylinders 1-3, and 4-6. Then there are Two Downstream for Cylinders 1-3 and 4-6. Look at the rear of the engine and you will see the Catalytic Converter canisters sitting there. There will be a Sensor before and after each Cat with the wiring harness up toward the top of the engine. There is a Sensor for each bank with one upstream, before the Cat and one downstream, after the Cat.

I have a 2004 suzuki verona. check engine light was on. they say it was th tps. found out you cannot just change the sensor so i cleaned the throttle body. now the check engine light is out but the car is...

Check the gas cable, it may be too tight. You can do that easily. I had the same problem with that "famous" engine light. Use 91 octane gasoline and take a ride on a highway 100 to 110 kmh speed (1 hour minimum). I have a 2004 Verona and it is a great car.

2004 suzuki verona check engine light on. Mechanic said nothing was wrong. car stopped accelorating on highway and died. now was told cataletic converter was clogged and blew engine. can this happen. was...

your engine is fine. find a new mechanic.

if the exhaust clogs it just dies. your cat ( converter) probably clogged due to a very rich condition, which was detected by the computer, hence the light. my bet is a clogged fuel injector or a sensor (either oxygen or air flow) failed. this made it run rich and the cat probably melted.

get a new cat installed, have them run the codes.

Service engine light on. Gas tank fills to 3/4 and clicks off. The model is XG350L 2004. The problem began about 2 months ago. It has been worked on once to replace a vacuum valve but still didn't fill up...

Did you have the fuel pump changed? They might of bent the electronic float assembly in the gas tank causing it to read 3/4 full.and making the check engine light come on.

Oxygen sensor replacement

It's something you can with simple tools, you have four O2 sensors. Your going to have to get the truck rescanned or if you have the DTC code, you can find out which O2 sensor has gone bad so you can replace it. Your going to have Two upstream O2 sensors on each exhaust bank, one O2 sensor before the Catalytic Converter, and the last one after the Catalytic Converter. Its like replacing a Spark plug and you can pick up the O2 sensor at any large Auto Parts store with a can of WD 40. Just unclip the wire leads to the O2 sensor and then with a O2 sensor socket or hint close end wrench and hammer, you can remove the O2 sensor from the exhaust pipe. Good luck and be safe.

It should be in the exhaust downpipe, between the engine and the catalytic converter.

Check Engine Light Comes on Intermittently

The P0141 code points to the O2 sensor heater circuit. It could be that there is a short in the wiring to the O2 sensor or it could be that the O2 sensor heating element itself is bad. The code is for O2 sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2. Bank 1 means its the O2 sensor connected to the exhaust pipe that runs to cylinder #1. Sensor 2 means that it is likely the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter on the same exhaust pipe.

Check engine light

I found that my check engine light comes on when I fail to turn the gas cap two clicks. It has something to do with the air . After I paid $50 for one of those diagnostics, I always make sure when it comes on to check if my husband failed to click the gas cap, correct the problem and the check engine light goes out before I have to gas up the next time and will stay off as long as I am the sole driver.
