Check all of the fuses 1 for the fuel pumps specialy, and check the fuel pump relay,if those 2 are good then the pumps might of went bad. Also check for an emergency fuel shut off switch,it will most likely look like a red push button.consult a manual as to where it might be located,or call a ford dealer and ask to talk to 1 of the mechanics as they have great shop manuals,or you can pick a manual up at any auto parts store for around 12-20 dollars.

Running tank one empty could have picked up **** from the bottom of the tank and clogged the in line filter that feeds the engine. It should be located under the truck on the left inner frame rail around the back of the cab area. Replace it don't try to clean it out it will just clog again. They are not that expensive from the locale parts house. DHR... EX Ford Line Mech

SOURCE: truck won't start, can't hear either fuel pump 1992 Ford F 150 5.

If you can't hear the fuel pump when you turn the key to the on position trying to build up fuel pressure, it is most likely either a voltage issue at the fuel pump or you need to replace the fuel pump. Have you checked your fuel filter? Try turning on the key without engaging the starter and see if you hear the whine of the fuel pump.

Good Luck

SOURCE: I have a 1988 Ford F250 with the 460 engine and

The fuel pump relay and the oil pressure switch as well. The oil pressure switch runs power to the fuel pump when you first start it
When the oil pressure reaches operating range the relay takes over
They are both inexpensive so replace both of these parts to be safe and kill two birds with one stone. If one goes out the other will soon enough

1988 ford mustang inertia switch locaton

More than not its the ign module in the distributer.. this is the way they fail.. 2. the fuel pump on these cars are a problem too.The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. go to the rear of the car in a quiet area have someone just turn the key to on, not trying to start the engine. if the fuel pump runs it will run for about 1.5 seconds and you should be able to hear it .. it will be a buzzing noise. the relay just turns the pump on for a short time to charge the system then when the engine starts the relay via the computer turns the fuel pump on to supply the injectors. The reset is a cable is in the trunk of the car on the rear right side. it has a plastic tag on it for identification. The problem could be a clogged fuel filter.. mounted just in front of the tank under the car. If the IGN module is out there will be no spark.. check that before you start removing the tank.. I just bought a pump, a filter and an ign module for that car from www.Rockauto.com.. best prices anywhere. Pump was 1/4 of what autozone wanted for it !!

Ford 460 loses power then dies. Starts back up. Idles fine.

It sounds like you might have a clogged catalatic converter on the exhaust system.

1996 Ford F-350 460 gas engine. Stalls while going on road, either tank. I've replaced fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator. It will start right away, usually.

I'd check the manual transfer valve on the dash. They have a tendency to go bad after awhile. Cause 1000 different symptoms, and be the last thing checked/replaced. It's probably the cheapest place to start. The pump under the driver's feet is usually the last one to go in my experience, but the secondary culprit is normally the main pump in the rear tank.

Next time it tries to stall, toggle the fuel switch and see what happens. Same with a hard start. Back and forth a few times quickly.

Hope this helps.

I was driving down the road at about 30 mph and the truck died.

Sounds like it could possibly be the inertia switch. Check to see if you can hear the fuel pumps kicking on, if not the check your inertia switch. They are made to shut the fuel pumpa off if the vehicle has an impact or roll over. Sometimes they go bad or the wire connections get corroded. I believe it is located in the kick panel on the passenger side. Hope this helps.
