Had the same problem with my 1999 Windstar. The part's store told me that it's on the same fuse as the ignition switch. So I ruled out a fuse issue because everything else on my ignition was working just fine. They suggested I run a new hot wire to the connector. That didn't sound right to me. A couple of weeks later my alternator went. After I replaced it, the OBD II now reads just fine.

What fuse number for the diagnosis plug to get the check light engine

fuse number 24 is a 30 amp fuse goes to pcm relay and fuse number 30 the 30 amp fuse to ignition to pcm power diode.if check light is working your pcm has power but you could have short in the dlc connector terminal where you scanner adapter goes.your scanner suppose power up from the dlc terminal for obd 2 system the obd 1 you connect to cigarette light or use battery hook up cables that come with scanner make sure you are using correct adapter.

Obd 2 connector does not work with any code scanner

HI there....Check to see if the code reader is a CAN OBD 2 code reader. If it is only OBD2 , that may be the problem. In 2003 Some vehicle manufacturers ( ford,Gm,Mazda and Saab) began using a new computer protocol called Controller Area Network (CAN) with the OBD2 and if your vehicle is CAN OBD 2 the simple OBD2 code reader will not work.Contact your local dealer to determine if you vehicle is CAN or not or find a code reader that is CAN OBD2 capable. Hope this helps you out
