Question about 1993 Mazda MX-3
I have a 93 Mazda MX-3 with the automatic retracting shoulder seat belt system. The passenger side works fine, but the driver's side usually stays in the upright position and will not always retract downward along the track when the door is opened, like it is supposed to. It occasionally moves down and back into the upright position so I do not believe it is the cable mechanism. I think it could be a short in the wiring or an intermittent problem with the drive motor. Is there any history with this type of problem and/or any advice to fixing it?
Just read online that the seatbelts were recalled that were having that problem

Yes there is a history of problems with this system, one is the limit switches at eacg end of the track and the other is the motors, there is no real fix other than replacing it.
