Question about 2002 Kia Sedona

Testing fuel pressure

Is there a port to plug a fuel pressure gauge into?
I have diagnosed a fuel pump 2 weeks ago and replaced it. The van ran fine with the replacement pump. Well, it seems that the new re-manufactured pump I installed isn't 100% good. After 1.5 weeks, the van experienced the same symptoms and did not start yesterday. Well today it runs fine, so I can't do much more with it. Where do I go with this?

Well, I followed the fuel rail as far as I could see but it's not there. Is it on the back rail under the manifold?

The port is on the fuel rail on top of the motor. it looks like a big air valve that you find on the wheel.

My ford fiesta van needs hand priming after 4 hours so van can start - why is this?

Could be bad diaphragm in fuel pressure regulator, leak in gas line or a check valve somewhere. Your problem continues to the fuel pump because the pump should quickly restore pressure in seconds and it is not doing it.

So both problems can be due to 1 part, but it can be 2 separate problems, losing pressure and then failing to restore pressure.

A fuel pressure gauge can be attached to the test port on the fuel rail. The term used is "bleed down" test. It can help diagnose what is going on.

93 chrysler t&c awd changed fuel pump and filter, van ran fine again for about 2 months now won't start and don't hear the fuel pump. changed the oil pressure sending unit and still won

fuel pick-up in tank is blocked it has a sock over the end as a gross filter to keep out any big junk from getting sucked into the pump and causing damage to it. the sock can get so plugged up that no fuel will flow, causing the pump to run for a short time then with no fuel flow to cool it it trips the safety and shuts off

Where is it on 2002 kia rio fuel test port don't

You would have to test the fuel pressure on this vehicle by connecting to the line coming from the fuel filter to the fuel rail, there is no actual fuel test port on this vehicle. if you do decide to test the pressure... here is what your pressure readings should be>> Fuel Line Pressure 46-51 psi (320-350 kPa)
This actually sounds like a Fuel Pressure Regulator issue. I would recommend replacing the regulator and see how the vehicle responds after that..

Hope this helps...

1994 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.0 V6 Runs fine for about 10 min after that engine bogs down like it is not getting gas. I have replaced the fuel filter, map sencor, and fuel pressure regulator as was suggested...

Have you put a pressure gauge on and then drive to see if pressure drops. If it does it is likely the pump. Sometimes these problems lead to it being the computer.

Won't start when cold

get a fuel injection pressure test gauge, it hooks up to the fuel pressure test port on the top of the engine near the injector, in the fuel supply line to the injector, hook up the gauge to the test port valve (looks like a tire valve) and run the engine, verify you have no leak at test port connection to gauge, make a note of the fuel pressure PSI with the engine running, then shut it down, the fuel pressure shuld not drop off more than a 2 PSI, if it does the fuel pump is defective.

Hard start

Its your fuel pump.I had the same plomblem not too long ago.I was spraying either in to start it.I have a 97 chevy truck witch requires 65 psi to start and 55 to run properly. You need to find out much psi you need to start it.You can probaly look in your manual or just make a few calls. My truck had 55 psi and it ran fine i just had to get it running first.Good luck.I wonder if that fuel pressure regulator was a waste of time like it was for me.
