I had this same problem on my 2004 Santa Fe with the 3.4L engine. I had it towed to the dealer. WhenI called them back they said there was nothing wrong with it. (they didn't charge me either) What they said was that this problem occurs if your car does not start right away and you continue to try to start it. The solution is to push the accelerator to the floor and then turn the key to start it. I know, we've all been taught that you don't need to "pump" the accelerator with a car that has fuel injection. I had the same problem a few weeks ago, did what I described above, and the car started fine.

You need to do a fault code test to see if any problems exist that could explain this. Also exactly when does it cut off.

2004 Hyundai Santa Fe will not start on the first try. Just keeps cranking...

Could be a problem with the fuel pump relay or check valve in the pump.
The relay may not be powering the pump, and the check valve may be letting fuel to flow back into the tank when the engine is off.
If the relay has failed, the pump would not have power until the engine has oil pressure. If the check valve in the pump has failed, the fuel line would have no pressure at first crank.

Vehicle starts runs for 2 seconds then shuts off 2006 santa fe 4 cyl standard, not the battery started multiple times and shuts off after 2 seconds every time what is it?

Possibly a weak or dead fuel pump. Try disconnecting the fuel line where it enters the fuel rail ( the metal tube that the injectors are attached to.) Have someone turn the key to the "RUN" position, (not "START") a few times and observe the fuel flow. If it appears weak, then you probably have a bad pump. Be sure to capture the fuel that spills out and DO NOT attempt this while the engine is hot. Altenatetively, you can have someone turn the key "ON" and off a few times while you listen for the humming sound of the pump at the fuel tank. But just because you can hear a humming sound doesn't always mean the pump is operating to capacity. If this doesn't help, reply bvack and we can go from there. Good luck!

I have 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, 2.4L DOHC. Without warning it just quit running while driving and now won't start. Why and what do I do to fix it.

Do not crank the engine anymore until you Check the timing belt first and see if its not broken and if it is then that's the problem, If it is not then you got check other thing like spark, fuel system.Good luck
