With the AC, I wouldn't get in a hurry. You can rack up alot of money real quick trying to solve an intermittent problem with an AC system and not solve the problem at all. Be patient, and wait til the problem area goes completely, then you will know exactly what to replace.

Both AC and Heat blow the same air.

Sounds like a flow flap or vacuum control head issue. The system uses 1 blower motor and one fan resistor. Both systems are intergrated to produce a BLENDED temperature. This means that to raise A/C temps originating at say 20 degrees to come out of the ducts at 45 degrees for cooling you need airflow through the heater core WHILE the A/C is on.
This is done with a blender flap. Hot air that is potentially matching the water thermostat (165 degrees) is expelled to blend with the 20 degree air to raise the discharge temperature to 45 degrees and up.
In winter, the A/C is engaged by design to keep the compressor lubed with oil. Usually this happens in Defroster mode, but through either Design or defect, may occur in heat position.
Now some of the Digital Climate control units have a Diagnostic sequence you can activate with certain button pushing combinations. Research Your Model, Year and then Climate Control Diagnostics on the internet. The sequence is something Dealers know about.
This Diagnostics would identify a malfunctioning Flap valve actuator.
I recommend people to visit a Salvage yard which allows you to dismantle a car yourself and see how the car is built.
Hope this helps and makes sense to you.

1983 Chevrolet C10 Silverado: The AC compressor and heater blower motor fan will not come on.

The brown wire at the speed switch is the power wire. Powers is then directed to the blower motor resistor throught the orange, lt blue and yellows wires. The blower motor receives power through the orange wire. Check for power at the fuse with the key on. If there is no power the problem could be the ignition switch or the wiring in between the switch and the fuse block

Why wont my a/c or heater fan come on?

When the blower works only on the high setting its usually a bad blower resistor which is right near the blower motor. now you say it would always blow high regardless of the fan speed setting that would indicate probably the climate control unit or a connector problem somewhere. finally it not working at all may be the climate control unit or connection went bad even further. it might have a blown fuse or a bad blower motor in addition to the climate control unit or connector problem .check for power and ground at the blower motor. the power is supplied from fuses and may have a relay also. the ground is supplied from the climate control unit and goes through the resistor to control the fan speed. good luck

2004 acura mdx. turn on air conditioner - no air blows from front. rear air blows, but not cool. cannot hear compressor coming on. checked fuses - they look okay.

I have the same problem with my MDX. I live in the Bahamas and there are no Acura dealerships here. I had two mechanics look at it and they could not fix the problem, so I took matters into my own hands. After checking for blown fuses I did a self diagnosis on the climate control panel, I got a DTC that related to a fault in the blower motor circuit. I went through the step by step diagnosis of the circuit and found that the blower motor was faulty. Acura's climate control has a couple sensor that monitor the blower speed, if the sensor do not detect that the blower is running they will not allow the compressor to run, in essence the rear blower will run but the system will not cool. You may need to replace the blower. The quickest way to check if the blower is faulty is to pull the connector off the blower, turn the iignition on and the ac system on, You should get battery voltage on the connector. If you have battery voltage at the connector and the fan doesn't run the youv'e solved the problem. If you don't have voltage at the connector with the ignition switch on and the ac system on you problem could be the front blower power transistor. If you need diagrams and how to retrieve self diagnostic DTC contact me: engineeredelectric@gmail.com

My a/c won't blow cold and heater doesnt get hot

Is the heater working? Turn the A.C. off with the car at an idle. Turn the A.C. on and listen for the compressor to turn on. (should hear a click under the hood and the motor should change pitch. If no noise, the compressor is not comming on. The o-rings were bad about leaking on these cars, letting out all the freeon. If there is no freeon, the low pressure switch won't let the compressor run.

Air conditioning blowing hot air

ok could be one of 3 things. 1 you may be out of freon. (proly spelt that wrong) 2. compresser could be bad. 3 the clutch on your compresser might not be engaging. when trucks running turn ac on and see if the front of your compresser spins or not. if it does clutch is good. but it could be that your compresser is still bad. either way i recomend you go for freon and start there. when they fill it they will tell you for sure wether or not your compresser is bad.

1999 cadillac deville air wont work

There's a blower motor (fan) under the hood and up against the firewall near the center of the car that takes some work to remove. It has gone out in the last 2 of my 4 Cadillacs. Turns out if you're not real careful with the positioning of the spark plug wires they will brush up against it, and if one of them gets cracked or brittle it will "arc" and short out the blower motor. The a/c compressor should still come on (you'll hear a click when it engages) but you won't get any air blowing into the cabin, hot or cold.

The part was like $200 stock (year 2000 prices) and it took about an hour to remove it. My Caddy at that time had this damn strut bar going across the engine bay which we eventually removed to get to the blower motor.
