Question about 1999 Ford Escort

No power at mid to high RPM

Ford Bantam pickup 1999 1600i, just had air flow sensor replaced, now have no power in the mid to high rpm, after a litle playing around the garage has managed to get some power up to 2500 - 3000 rpm, need help as this engine did give power up to 4000 - 4500 rpm

    Have you checked the fuel side of it? Filter??

Theory of Operation
This DTC sets when an unexpected high intake manifold air flow condition exists that
can lead to increased engine speed and puts the NGC into a High Air flow Protection
limiting mode. The High Air flow Protection feature includes RPM limits for when a
Throttle and or MAP sensor limp-in fault is present.
When Monitored
During all drive modes.
Set Condition
If vacuum drops below 1.5Hg with engine RPM greater than 2000 RPM and closed
throttle. One Trip Fault. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.
Possible Causes
-VACUUM LEAK
-RESISTANCE IN THE (FS56) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
-(FS56) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
-RESISTANCE IN THE (Kl) MAP SIGNAL CIRCUIT

Ford bantam rocam 1.6i 2006 temperature high but water is not boiling. Is one of the sensors faulty and where is all sensing units installed?


you might have an air lock in the water system.
start the car leave the cap off put you bower on hot and leave for 10-15 mins if should get the air lock out

Low idle & vibration at idle


I don't know if this will help. Had a similar problem with a 99 Blazer.
Would drop to between 300 and 500 rpm at stop signs and red lights, would stall and shake.
Did all the same checks, replaced mass air flow sensor, replaced cam sensor, cleaned the fuel injectors but the problem was still there.
Replaced both #1 and #2 O2 sensors in the exhaust pipes and now the vehicle runs fine. The idle is back to a steady 750 rpm in all stopping conditions. The Mass air flow sensor and Cam position sensor get information from the O2 sensors.

My freestar engine light is on OBD says PO171 what should be replaced


I believe this can be a bad O2 sensor error. It is a lean reading on bank 1. Also what can happen are intake manifold leaks, and stuck Intake manifold runners on 1 side of the engine. For the Manifold runners, these work like a gating system. Some Intake manifolds have 2 chambers, a low and high flow. When the gating runner sticks in the high flow position, too much air enters the engine on Bank 1 during idle or low rpm.
Manifold leaks. Use a spray water bottle and with the engine running, spray the seams of the manifold. A leak will change rpm or stall the engine.

there is a idle speed control motor the motor sticks tap on it with a small hammer while running and see if the rpm's drop tap not hit

Remove the mass air flow,and clean it with intake cleaner spray,or mass air flow cleaner spray,if this does not help,reset the system again,by removing the negative battery cable for at least 20 seconds,then put it back on,if this does not help,replace the mass air flow sensor

Make sure there are no vacuum leaks around the mass air flow sensor. If it won't idle when stopped, change the Idle Air Control Valve. Reset the ECU module by removing the negative battery terminal and leave it aside for ten minutes and then reconnect it.
