Carolla stereo wont turn on..

Hello guys can some one please help me. I have 04 carolla. I tried to put after market stereo in my car. Everything seemed to work fine but when i was doin testing it just went down. Now i dont get any power or my stereo wont turn on. Then i put back my original stereo but again no power. What confusing is that as soon i replace the stereos and plug together it will go on for 1 second and then dead again.

Please tell me what is wrong? am i doing somthing wrong? i know wiring is done right because even original stereo wont turn on original setting and wiring. What should i do? are my cables dead? how much will it cost.

Have you checked the fuse? Looks like ther is no power coming to the radio so best bet it's the fuse.
Cheers.

You may have the 'backup' supply line switched with the ACC/IGN supply line.Backup has permanent 12V supply. ACC line only have 12v after you turn the key to position 1 or ACC.

2000 camry electrical short?

Michelle, I would recommend taking your vehicle to a local Car Stereo Shop or the dealer. It sounds like your son may have tapped into the incorrect wire in the harness when putting in the new stereo. It sounds like a problem of ignition wire is going to ground. Or the constant power wire is going to ground. Either of these issues would cause this problem.

you have a bare wire shorting out,This is a bad condition and needs attention right away.remove the stereo and start over, you will find the bare wire or you wired the stereo to that circuit.
