My 2005 GX 470 will not start, I put the key in the ignition and it won't turn and the steering wheel is locked. We tried stepping on the brake and turning the wheel back & forth, but no luck. I called Lexus roadside assistance and the car will have to be towed to the dealer! Of course it's saturday nite and the dealer doesn't open until Sunday. I tried all my keys and none will work. Does anyone have any simple solutions, it sounds like theirs a malfunction in the tumbler or immobilization system? Any reply would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same exact problem tonight. My key would not turn the ignition. I could not start by pulling the steering wheel and the tow company could not tow it out of the garage, BUT before this happened as I was driving the car earlier in the day, I noticed it was very difficult to drive and got concerned.

Put one hand on the steering wheel and rotate slightly left and right alternatively whilst turning the ignition key at the same time with the other hand. This might release the steering wheel and start ignition.
is the steering locked if it is you need to rotate the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key to release the lock, if the steering is turned all the way then try turning the steering wheel right while wiggling the key in the ignition to release the lock, if the steering wheel is free then get some graphite from an auto parts store and put it on the key and insert it into the ignition to get it lubricated

I'm assuming you mean your key wont turn in the ignition. first off check to make sure the car is in park. then what you gotta do is put in the key and put a little pressure as if turning but dont turn too hard, then even though the steering wheel is locked you will have to try to move it a little, if you parked with your tires turned then you will want to try to turn the wheel in the same direction, (even locked you should be able to move it about a half inch) you will have to turn the wheel hard but it should move enough to allow the key to turn, you may have to jiggle the key a little in the ignition but it should eventually turn, just remember not to try turning the key too hard, the extra force wont make it go but can cause the key to break. this tends to happen when you turn the car off andthe steering wheel gets locked if the wheels are turned hard in either direction. also if multiple attempts at this still dont work, try taking the key out and turning it over and trying again. Even though both sides of the key are identicle, because of wear on the key and the ignition, sometimes when the wheel locks the ignition, it will only turn if the key is put in a certain way. Hope this helps, good luck
do you have another key does the key you are trying when it locks up are you able to pull it out is your anti lock security system off if theres no damage to key then your ignition may be going bad next time you put the key in will it turn backwards then forwards try another key if you have it if its your ignition i can tell you how to change it just write me back and tell me
if you turned the steering wheel after shutting off the engine and the steering wheel caught the lock and tried to turn back it would hold pressure against the ignition lock cylinder. if it happens again try pulling the steering wheel hard one way or the other and turn the key at the same time.
