Question about 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I know this is a minor problem, but it is driving me INSANE..lol. The light that illumintes the gearshift will not stay on. I have checked the fuse, and I have even tried to take the floor console out to see if a wire was loose that I could fix, but I couldn't get the console completely out. The light sometimes doesn't even come on at all, but if you hit it, it will come on ( at least for a few minutes). When I am driving at night, I can not see what gear I am in. I don't want to take it to the dealer if I don't have to, b/c that will be very expensive. Thanks for any help you can give me!

The light for the gearshift doesn't come on. From what I understand, it's an LED light and has no bulb to replace.

You don;t have to take the whole console out. The gear shift indicator panel pops out itself.
The bulb is probably loose.

My 1999 jeep grand will not go in reverse it drives great foward I'm hoping it's a minor problem

Check your transmission fluid. It may be affecting how the transmission is working. If your fluid levels are ok, your transmission may need repair. I would take it down to a repair shop immediately. The sooner you catch the problem, the cheaper the fix is going to be. Hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee speedometer flickers when its raining and the windshield wipers are on also high idle sometimes when its hot.. any ideas?

Sounds like the speedometer cable under the steering inside the column could be loose. Minor adjustment if you know someone that could do this for you, or take it to a mechanic.

I have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee and the brake lights wont work

there's a possibility that it might be the socket that the bulb actually goes into. my break light did something similar to that. the socket only cost about 8 bucks from the dealer.
