Rangeroverp38 6 cylinder bmw deisel engine running problem !

hi. can anyone help with sugestions. i have a range rover p38 1996 model with a bmw 2.5 6 cylinder deisel engine in it. the car was running ok but it was going to france this weekend. did not happen fery booked and all. it had an oil change and fuel filter change both oil and deisel filters where the correct ones. the problem started the next day after it was power washed out under the bonnet. it was ok then 40 mins later after a 8 mile trip it developed a realy rought running engine . it is running like a petrol hunting on full choke and when you drive it it pulls like mad more then befor but then cuts when the throttle is only on light.it is also chucking alot of deisel smoke out aswell so it seems to be over fueling. took it to a local garage but there diognostic machine would not be excepted in it. but a trip to the main dealer would cost £150 just to hook it up to the computor so i would rather someone else tell me what the problem could be befor i let the big guns rob me. could it be relay i dont think it is injector as it runs smove at higher revs and also it seems like all the cylinders are miss fireing at the same time. anyway has anybody got any good idears. many thanks pete.

- ps.also the fatory fitted radio for the same rangerover will not let the code enter but the radio in the rover manual is not the same model as the one fitted to my car. my rangerover has a clarion AMR2672/PU-9887A. diversity withe a tape cassette and cd charger fitted to it. so i was asking if there is a certain preceedure to take in order for it to except the code. it had the battery off so it was regharged and put back on. i turned the radio back on but only a dash in each place the code number should be. so they tell you to leave ingnition in position 1 for for hours. have not got time for that so i take the shorter route. switch ignition to position 1. i take out fuse number 1 out and number 8 fuse out as well from the fuse box on the side of the drivers seat near the floor. then you reinstate both fuses and wait for 1 hour. then code in appears saving wasting 4 hours. so all is good to there but when i punch in the code in the sequence the book says for the other radio it does not work. they tell you to key preset nimber 1 button first. then sellect the correct didgit buy pressing the manual tuner up and down untill the first code didgit apears the press preset1 to comfirm it and so on with the ofther 3 code numbers. but what happens is as soon as i press preset number 1 button to enter the first number witch would have to be number 1 in the code anyway. it just brings up number 1 anyway straitaway. so you put the rest in then nothink happens the nubers just sit there untill you try invain twice then they dissapear. so with this model radio there must be another way of entering the code in so pleeeese does anyone know it. and drop us a line. many thanks again pete.

The fuel system is a drive by wire and there is no accellerator cable.Check the plug going into the injector pump and clean, there is probably water here stopping the correct voltage to the throttle pump spool.
