C V Boots

Can you please give me a basic step-by-step on how to install CV boots on a Nissan Terrano 1995. The pathfinder is the closest I could find to my terrano.

I know how to jack up my pathfinder--what are the actual steps to removing the parts and relapcing the boots on the CV joints? A step by step on that would be much appreciated.

Hi mate i dont no if this is the same case but i have found that when the boots on cv joints are perished or missing that is an indication that the roller bearings inside are worn enough to be replaced the boots are designed to keep bearings lubricated and free of dirt once there is cracks in the boot grease comes out dirt gets in and they wear out very quickly and need to be replaced replacement is easy jack up car put safety stands under bolt off bolts on simple but be shore to replace bolts with new they are usually quite stressed

In most cases, it is cheaper to install rebuilt axles than have the boots replaced. You also run the risk of having dirt and water in the joints when the boots are installed.

Which transmission oil to use in a terrano 1996

Being that we have the Nissan Pathfinder (closest vehicle here), which like my 2001 Nissan Xterra uses Nissan Matic-D, you can use a Nissan Matic-D (or J), or a compatible fluid such as Valvoline MaxLife or Castrol TransMax Import Multi-Vehicle

its better to change the whole axle it has both cv joints and both boots and its faster to do . the cv joint cant be changed with the axle in the car you have to remove the axle so you just install the replacement axle and your done just pick up a chilton manual at any auto part store for your car it gives you step by step instructions . price the cv joint and the whole axle and see the difference hope this helps

What is the easyest way to remove and replace the outer right cv boot on a nissan terrano 1995 model

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. First let me just say that I am passing on repeated experience and that this is NOT a solution. When a CV boot has failed it allows all kinds of foreign matter into the joint ball seats. Even if you replace the boot if you were not able to completely flush and then lubricate the joint with grease it will make noise in turns. I have had very little success with just replacing a boot as the noise factor always is present post boot replacement. Most of the time your better off with a re-manufactured Transaxle shaft. My 2 cents and will post this as a clarification so that others may still comment on "how to" replace the boot.

1999 nissan terrano diesel turbo is lacking power , brand new fuel pump and comp chip installed and has run like **** since, has been put through comp diagnosis but no fault showing,(is very slow 2 pickup...

Possibly the "Mass airflow sensor". I had a similar problem, basically the car behaved like it didn't have a turbo and was really slow. Unfortunately the Mass airflow sensor is expensive, about AU$800. Only failed once several years ago. Hope this helps.

1995 nissan terrano 2.7 turbo diesel 4wd. just wonding what will be causing the clicking sound while turning?i have replaced the wheel bearings, thort that will be the problem but not so.the 4wd is not...

It could be the front cv joints even when the 4wd is not engaged. The wheels are set up like a front wheel driven car, so they have half shafts that go into your transfer case. Have a look at the cv boots, and see if its leaking grease, but then again, the mechanic who replaced your wheel bearings would have noticed something wrong.
If not that, and if it clicks when you are truning the steering wheel, the rack and pinion has lost its fluid. Might wanna check the boots on the tie rods and see if they are leaking fluid.

Cv boots or outer rubbers

Hello, the boot kits are only available after market and they are more expensive than what you can get the entire CV axle unit for on ebay if you wait for one to show up. I have bought mine on ebay for about $50 brand new. If you're just worried about the ripped boots, you can make your own with an old inner tube and use hose clamps to seal the ends. So basically its up to you how much money you want to spend. I like to fix things right, but I never overlook a cheap and easy solution to save money.
