07 Impala 3.5 Oil pressure sensor failure. sensor is located above the oil filter a long extension and a 27mm socket will get it changed out in 10 minutes. New sensor was 30 bucks

Yes or a small bypass hose. You may be able to get a loan of a tester at autozone, oreilys, or advance autoparts. You want a radiator pressure tester. Do not exceed the cap rated pressure. When the engine is warm, you can add pressure and look for water seepage.

There are also chemicals to add to detect leaks if the first method is unsuccessful.

SOURCE: oil in radiator

There is really only one thing that causes this, that is a leaking cylinder head gasket(s).

SOURCE: Low Oil pressure light in idle at stop

Depending on the amount of miles, maintenance records, or how hard the car has been driven either by a previous owner, or by yourself. The engine's main crankshaft bearings or the connecting-rod bearings could be excessively worn.

Also, it could very well be a wiring problem to the sensor and/or computer causing the problem.

SOURCE: seem to be losing oil in coolant of 2003 impala 3.4

it sounds like the start of a leakey head gasket a head gasket stop water , oil and compression from mixing together If the car has been hot in the past i would change the head gakets and flush radiator professaly before you end up with a cracked head

SOURCE: Reset my engine oil low in 2007 chevy impala

you sould be able to reset that from the dash ,these options beside the dash go to the end and when you get to oil and % press on the checkmark and that would do the trick.

Oil leak on 2007 chevy impala

Only a trusted local auto service shop or dealer can answer this for you because your vehicle would have to be up on a lift to actually see what's leaking in order to properly diagnose and repair. It may be as simple as changing the oil pan gasket or a cracked oil pan that would have to be either replaced or repaired depending on the size of the crack. There is also the remote chance that its actually something else that's leaking. Hope this helps.

Impala low engine oil pressure

Could be oil pooling in the valve cover caused by a partial blockage of the drain gallery, but you'd almost certainly get a oil low message too. I assume the oil and filter is changed regularly? You could try adding Marvel Mystery Oil, about 12oz for about a hundred miles and then change the oil and filter. Depending on your level of adventurism, you could drain the oil and replace it with new oil, except add a quart of automatic transmission fluid in place of one quart of oil. Some people say ATF is bad for seals, some people use ATF to rejuvenate leaking seals. I don't know who to believe. Run that for 100 miles and change the oil and filter. I've even seen someone replace their oil with kerosene and a quart of oil and run it at idle for 5 minutes, then change the oil and filter. Instantly freed 2 stuck lifters and the engine was fine.

Best bet would be to run the Marvel Mystery Oil first. Then, if the problem persists, either change the pressure sensor and see where that gets you or go for the ATF in the oil trick.

Why am I getting a low oil pressure alarm on my 2007 Chevy Impala LT? The oil level is fine on the dip stick.

Make sure your dipstick is wiped clean...then check oil again..if it still. is fine get your oil light checked...may be a short there.

I have a low oil pressure light coming on in my 2007 impala. I keep the oil changed as required every 3000 miles and it's not due for a change for at least 1500 more miles what could it be?

Yes, the oil change schedual is a good thing to go by, but it is a recommendation. Have you noticed any leaks on the ground that you park on lately? You may be loosing oil and not know about it. There may also be a problem with your oil pressure sensor. It may need to be fixed or replaced, but don't worry. Your car is fairly new so it should be under warrenty if this is the case. I hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!
