TI and TI+ stand for "Traffic Information". The letters are shown in the status line of the Control Display whenever a RTTI signal is received by the vehicle. Starting with March 2007 production, BMW has changed the text from "TI+" to "TI" to simplify the display. For BMW's made in 2009 and later 1, 3 and 7 Series as well as Z4, TI means that the service is enabled, even though broadcast and/or content coverage may not be available in the area you are currently driving. In short ti on your head unit (radio) means that you are able to receive traffic information should you want to.
