Error 7 on 2005 Honda CRV Radio

Hey folks,

I'm sure this has come up but I cannot find it. I had to have my battery replaced and the word "CODE" was displayed. My daughter, being the 12-year old that she is, pressed all sorts of buttons and apparently I'm locked out. I did find my card with the security access code and the instruction booklet says to leave the power on for an hour for it to reset...an hour and a half later, nothing. Any advice?

I had the same issue with the radio code error lock on a 2005 CRV. I was unaware of the code procedure and had locked the radio in the "ERROR E" mode. I was able to unlock the radio by pulling the #9 back up fuse located in the fuse box in the engine compartment. This reset the radio to CODE which then allowed me to input the 5 digit number which I had in my glove box along with my owner's manual. I am happy to report I now have a working radio/ CD player.

I replaced my battery and used the procedure of removing the #9 fuse to reset the E-Code. I entered the correct unlock code and the radio freed up right away. Thanks NJ Guy for the info..

Had "ERROR 7" in radio window. Removed fuse #9 in the engine compartment and was able to reset the code on our 2006 Honda CR-V. Removing the Front Accessory Power Socket fuse #18 next to the driver's right knee did not work. Thanks a bunch!

Same problem with 2002 Honda CR-V. Could not find security access code. Drove around for about two weeks staring at that Code message. Called dealership. Code was posted inside glove box. Could see it sitting in drivers seat with glove box open. Pushed all the radio buttons for the umpteenth time. Code demanded to be entered. Entered code and it worked immediately. Never knew about reset time.

Instead I found an alternate solution to the need for cut power to reset the radio code error lock. If you turn the ignition to the accessory position (engine NOT running) and leave the locked radio ON for 1 hour, the radio error lock will reset and you will then be able to enter the correct code for restoring radio function for my 2002 Honda Odyssey.

Battery replaced in 2000 Honda CRV. Need radio code.

The reset code for many Honda products is found in the glove box. Open the glove box and on the back of the door you should see a small sticker with two sets of numbers on it. The number set with 5 digits is your radio reset code. When you get the message "code" enter the numbers in sequence using the radio preset buttons. If entered correctly, your radio shoud turn on immediately.

God Bless and good luck

I removed my car battery for my honda crv 2006 model and the radio is not coming on.i pressed 1 and 6 the numbers that came up are u 1000 and l 8490,please what is the unlocking code?

The code is specific to your vehicle and your radio. Go to https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?page=%2Fprod%5Fhome%2Easp and sign your CRV up on the Honda Owner Link. There with the VIN# of your car and the serial # off the radio you can get the 5 digit radio code. Pressing 1 & 6 on the radio give you the serial #.

How to reset the 2006 honda crv car tape with the code

If you are sure that the code you have is right you may want to disconnect the battery and then re-connect the battery and try again. You only have a few tries to enter the code and if you make mistakes you won't be able to enter the code until you disconnect and re-connect the battery and start over.
