Place car on a steep incline or raise front end up higher than the heater core. Now, add coolant to the radiator as needed, with engine warmed up. It sounds like the radiator is lower than the heater core causing an air lock and if that is the case this will allow the air bubbles to escape.

CHECK COOLANT FAN FUSE, AND HOT WIRE THE COOLANT FAN TO MAKE SURE ITS WORKING.IF COOLANT FAN DONT WORK WHEN HOT WIRED. COOLANT FAN NEEDS REPLACING. Since you say you changed the thermostat, and that wasn't it then possibly the cooling fan is not functioning properly. Or bad water pump,inaccurate temperature gauge, radiator core blocked or restricted. These are just the most common reasons. Good Luck and I hope this helps a little
Sounds like a bad wheel bearing to me. Jack up each corner of the car one at a time and grab the tire. Shake like crazy on it - if it moves, you've found a bad bearing. It should be solidly on the hub with no play whatsoever.
I would check the radiator fan in the car for looseness. If the fan wobbles or moves , Then change out the radiator fan. The radiator fan and motor come as one piece. There is a fan relay also should be replaced.
When turning the key only half way to make the dash fan work, indicates that the dash fan is okay.
The dash fan may make a whining or high pitch noise when engage. Then I would change it out because an internal bearing to the fan is going out.
