It is highly unlikely your timing belt jumped on this engine, if your having this problem with the engine turning over but no start the only causes are either your 10amp engine fuse, your crank and or camshaft sensor or you are out of gas/ issues with your fuel I.E. bad fuel pump, leak ,etc.
don't bother taking to a mechanic because most of them have never even been under the hood of this car. If you jumped or happen to break your timing belt your engine will do absolutely nothing, look up the dynamics on how this engine operates before you dig in to a problem.

I had the same problem . check your 10 amp engine fuse inside the car under the steering wheel. that will cause this also.

I Suspect the timing belt has jumped, this usually happens on cold start if the belt is ready to go. How many miles, are you over the recommened change mileage?

If the engine overheated and now won't crank, you may have locked it up. If you can't turn the alternator or the crankshaft with a wrench, the engine may be trash.
One of the cylinders could also be full of coolant from a blown head gasket.

What does it mean when the check engine light is flashing??

Hi Vivian:
The check engine light is reserved only for Powertrain problems that could have an impact on the emissions systems.

Exactly what the OBD system looks for depends on the make, model and year. The original systems varied widely in their capabilities. Some did little more than check whether the various electronic sensors and actuators were hooked up and working.

I suggest scanned the PCM computer (Powertrain COntrol Module) to know exactly what fault code is stored there.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

I have a 1997 mazda millenia 2.5 and it jerks when going up a hill or when pressing on the gas, it doesnt do it often just at certain times. could it be that the spark plugs are going bad, or the injectors...

Could be the spark plugs that misfires or the engine doesn't get enough fuel at a high RPM and this could be because of the fuel pump or injectors. Good luck

I have a 1995 mazda millenia and the check engine light came on a couple of days ago and today the charge battery light came on, and then the speedometer stopped working. I was wondering what the problem...

Check your mazda dealer to see if they still work on a vehicle this old or if they know of a technician that would.

charge battery lights are related to the alternator an battery.

I have a 1997 Mazda Millenia bought it used. Anyway like 2 days ago a light switch came on (ACS) I don't know what that is and it's been wanting to stall out. Do you have any idea what it might be?

go to autozone & check the code for free mazda millenia they all have problem with the check engine light problem even though you bought all new parts it will still show , but never replace the cat converter most cause the engine light is the sensor only.
