Question about 2002 GMC Yukon Denali

1 Answer

2005 GMC Denali

The vehicle starts intermittently. It might start 3 times in a row then not start for several hours. When it doesn't start all the dash light s go out and on releasing the key it gives me a "Brake System needs servicing " message.

THIS COULD BE SEVERAL DIFFERENT PROBLEMS. SOUNDS AS IF IT MAY BE A FUEL DELIVERY CONCERN. THE ONLY WAY TO DIAG. THIS CONCERN WOULD BE USING AN UPDATED SCANNER FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE "SVC BRAKE SYSTEM" IS MOST LIKLEY CAUSED FROM THE NO START ENG CONCERN. IF I WERE TO TO TAKE AN EASY GUESS, YOU CAN CHECK YOUR FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, IT MAY BE LEAKING. TURN KEY TO RUN, DISCONNECT VACCUME HOSE @ REGULATOR. SEE IF FUEL IS COMING FROM REGULATOR, IF THERE IS, YOUR REGULATOR IS FAULTY. YOU MAY ALSO HAVE A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP, BUT A GUAGE IS NEEDED TO VERIFY.

not that this is going to really help your overall problem but I can tell you that smelling antifreeze in the cabin and if the foormats are wet in the front then it is probably your heater core that has sprung a leak. Think of your heater core as a mini radiator but inside the vehicle and they are usually tucked up inside the dash somewhere and is usually quite expensive to have repaired because of all the labor involved. I just replaced mine in my 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis and it took me about 10 hours to change out. And i am a mechanic. As for your electrical problems I would personally contact the dealership and as them about recalls or technical bulletins concerning your 2003 GMC Yukon xl denali. Good Luck.

I have a 2005 denali, the auto ride pump keeps going on, what is a reasonable amount of time between when the pumps activates, and makes it a more serious problem

There should be quite a period between sensor calling for air, several hours, depending on loss factors. If it's running more often, then you have a leak somewhere. You can find a quiet spot and try to hear for a leak or take some soapy solution in a squirt bottle and spray the lines and such to find it.

This is not a normal condition. Unlocking the car a starting it with the key should reset everything. Contact your local GMC dealer about getting this repaired. Unless you are a high-miler, you should still be under the factory warranty.
