check the switch behind the break petal if it is either needs adjustment or is in need of replacement best way to check is unplug the switch and see if break lights go off or just lift up on the petal.

If you are refering to the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor,it is located on the right rear of the engine below the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

HINT: If your Deville is equipped with the analog instrument cluster and the temperature gauge is working, or if you have the digital instrument cluster and the driver information center (DIC) has been diplaying messages telling you that the engine is hot, the problem with your engine cooling fans is NOT the sensor.

You mean needs to be replaced cause its defective or you have a leak thats what triggered it. Remember it' s a low pressure switch.
Follow line coming from fire wall to compressor. Thats the low side switch should be there.
But I'd be looking for leak around the fittings (oily dirt spots).
Hopefully you have a recovery machine and a vacuum pump. We don't want you to get hurt or break the law.
Its actually cheaper and safer to take it to a HVAC certified Tech or equalivant. good luck

looked it up online and looks like it's on the front of the water pump in a thing called the coolant inlet housing. one end of it looks something like the letter y and the other end, where the thermostat is round. hope that helps
