I had the same problem, my alarm would go off randomly when starting but it was embarassing having to get out and turn the key twice to disarm the alarm. But the condition was cause by a leak in my sunroof. Water made its way along the headliner towards the back then down to the taillights. It was even very much water because i didnt have excessive spots or watermarks on the headliner, but the little moister that was getting back there had shorted out the vacuum pump which controls the locks and alarm. The vacuum pump is easy to get to on the passenger side right behind the taillight, just lift back the carpet liner and its in a styrofoam case. disconnect it and open it up. If you notice any water damage thats your problem. You can even grab one from a scrap yard without any tools and only about $25

Check and make sure the two harnesses are plugged into the alarm module located on the left hand side under the dash board.
Mind would wiggle while driving and set the alarm off.

Can the car alarm kill your battery but you can start the car but after you turn it off battey died again

sure, if you let the alarm drain the battery, this can destroy any stock battery.
The car batteries are not like golf carts and are not deep discharge rated. (so can be damaged)
so charge the battery, if it wont hold a charge, it is bad.
if it discharges silently, and darkly parked , that is phantom discharge
if is discharges , driving that is a engine charge system failure.
parked over night discharging is phantom discharging.
if the alarm goes off and stays in alarm , then dont use, it.
if the battery is happy with the alarm defeated then the Alarm is bad.

The battery measure 12.6vdc charged,(rested) "voltmeter"
and running measures, 13.3 to 15vdc at idle.

Battery died, alarm won't stop

Yes, the brain and alarm features may be wired to the car's main battery, but they usually have a backup power source as well.

Not positive if it works on VW's but try locking/ unlocking the passenger door with the key. There are sensors in both doors.

We're trying to start the car and the alarm goes off instead. Mechanic a couple weeks ago said that the battery was too low. Problem now is how to get the alarm to stop so that we can boost the car and...

Remove the battery, charge it up, refit it, lock then unlock the car either by using the remote fob or key in drivers door, car should then be fine.

If you hook up the jumper cables can you disable the alarm with the remote?

Alarm sounds when I unlock car

unlock driver door twice consecutively to deactivate alarm.
Now under the hood u will see a mushroom shaped sensor near the coolant bowl, that's the open hood sensor for the alarm. That wire gets frayed over time and falsely triggers the alarm. Fix or replace the wire and or sensor if it is that one causing problems. Just unplug it and u will see if problem goes away, then u know it's that one that's faulty.
There is also one sensor in the trunk, but don't remember where on a golf. Should be easy to find and if i remember it has one white wire on it. Could be behind the panel cover on the trunk lid. Disconnect it if u need to or do the same as the one under the hood, meaning fix/ replace as needed.
Hope this helps.
