Same problem for me. The car would idle at about 2500 when started from cold and about 3 miles on would not idle at all, resulting in the revs dropping off when changing gear or stopping. Also rather jerky in top gear unless thrashed - numerous trips to the garage for air idle valve, injectors etc. but still a problem! Have just found out that GVs are a bit prone to carbon build up in the throttle body - mine was almost blocked - it now feels like a different car.
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

starts good when cold, after driving for awhile, when you stop and let it idle, it stalls out and won't start up again until 15 mins. or until it cools down, i have changed fuel pump, fuel filter, fuelpump relay switch, i just can't figure this out.
I have a 1999 Vitara and it's the same problem, after driving the car for a while if I sop at a transit light it turns off. I wait for 10 to 15 min. and starts up perfectly. Please HELP
engine stalls, but on waiting for about 5 minutes it esy to start the engine
When my car starts from cold is appears that it needs more petrol as would apply with a choke start. It will no pull away smoothly until engine is hot then all seems o K>
2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara bumping noise in rear propellor shaft when pulling away uphill or with heavy load. Vibration in rear prop shaft 45 to 60 Kms disappears when speeding past 60 kmh
