Question about 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country
i have a grand cherokee 96 and constantly getting "service 4wd switch" message. how can i resolve this myself?
This is actually a very easy fix.
The switch is on the transfer case, you'll see wires or small harness going to it.
It should be the only electrical switch on the transfer case.
It unscrews by using a socket or wrench.
clean it and replace

Remove switch and spray it with contact cleaner, insure the switch is operational and 4wd engages, it may be dirty, when completed disconnect battery for 15 min and see if message comes up again.
