The ECM/ECU number is unique to many things, there are lots of numbers for many applications, you will need to get the number off the old ECM and then you can get another rebuilt unit.

I have a 92 nissan stanza ex. Need to know the location of the diagnosis control unit is.

Oh boy, you are in for a learning curve. I spent the better part of a year getting to know the Nissan system of computer controls, diagnostic procedures, everything about Sentras from the mid eighties to the mid nineties. Your Stanza is very similar, fortunate for you to have a '92 with somewhat more sophisticated controls than my primitive '87 model. I even had to deal with a computer controlled carburetor-more headaches than I care to recall.

First, Jack, you have to find the computer, which is the diagnostic unit and the little LED light or lights on it are the blinkers that blink out the trouble codes. The computer on mine is under the passenger front seat. If not there, it will be behind the glove box or in the center console. So you locate it and set it in mode 4- for code read outs. That is the diagnostic mode. There are 5 modes, you can read the short paragraph about it in the link I will give. It's really easy, there are only 16 codes in all. Here is the link with all details and short description of codes.

Take the idle air control valve off and clean the carbon out of it with a non-chlronated brake ceaner then let dry 10 minutes and re-install.Reset the computer afterwards by disconnecting the ground cable on the battery for 30 seconds then re-install.

Rear 02 is catalytic convertor here the thing 5 spped and automatic will not make a difference on the engine management it doenst manage transmission control it seperate in the ECM if you have the old one the prom is removable is you dont lets deal with what you got the rear or is a heated circuit so you need to check for 12 volts on the white wire and ground at the black if it all check out then you need to check the signal wire for activity if you get a lot of activivy you got a bad catalytic

Hi I have a Chrysler Grand Voyager LE 98 (S plate) there is an indicator fault and the relay has no diagram on it would you be able to explain how it supposed to work please. It appears that there is no...

No the ECU is the ground for the relays. There should be two positives and to grounds At the relay port. One positive is constant, the other comes on with the ignition. On the bottom of the relay there are numbers. 30, 85, 86, 87. 30 should be hot at all times, it supplies voltage to 85. 86 is hot when you turn on the ignition, 87 goes to the ECU. The ECU grounds out the relay to energise it, thus sending power to 85. This works the same for all the relays.

Need to know how to retrieve the diagnostic codes on a 1989 nissan stanza

I have the 87 model, but the procedure should be the same. Its under the passengers seat. Had to remove my seat to access it.Turn the ignition on,with a flat-headed screwdriver turn the screw fully clockwise, and wait until you see several blinks. Two or three. Now turn the screw fully counter-clockwise,and read the blinks. The Red light denotes "!0), the yellow light denotes (1), so if the Red light blinks once, and the green light blinks twice, the code will be 12
