Recheck the routing of the belt and confirm you have the right belt as well

Are you replacing the whole tensioner or just the wheel and bearing? If the bearing is just the problem it is just bolted on. You can buy the wheel only at the dealer or on line here.

Replacing rear hub/bearing assembly on 2003 taurus with drum brakes/abs

The wheel bearings in a Ford Taurus are located in the hub/bearing assembly. Replacing the hub/bearing assembly is a straightforward process -- remove the brakes, then the bearing, and reassemble.

What makes a belt squeak?

Belts squeak for the same reason tires do when they spin. They are slipping. Something isn't turning as fast as the belt wants it to. On ford it's usually ether the idler sprocket or the tensioner. If you remove the belt and try spinning all of the pulleys by hand.( note the crank wont spin freely) you will usually be able to tell witch ones slipping.

Belt tensioner is not turning

The bearing is seized up. Remove the bolt in the center of the bearing and the bearing will come out. Take it to your local parts store and get another bearing to install on the tensioner.

Roaring in front end

this is caused by a defective wheel bearing, they can get really loud, any front end shop will road test this foree and give you an estimate to repair, I urge you to have this checked ASAP as uit can cause the wheel to break off the hub if the bearing freezes up.

Replace a serpentine belt on a 97 ford taurus

use a 15mm box wrench on the nut retaining the tensioner pulley to pry the tensioner 'arm' against the spring to release belt. note belt routing on decal under hood,or make a sketch,to aid in replacement.
on OHV engine rotate clockwise
on OHC rotate counter clockwise
be sure belt is completely seated on pulleys

Missing a tensioner for the AC drive belt? Just

Yes there is a tensioner. You will need the adjuster and the mount and the long bolt. If you goto a junk yard to get one I suggest you go to a local bearing shop and replace the bearing in the wheel.
