Ase mechanic:
this engine the 4.3L has problems like this due to cap seal. sometimes the rubber seal isn't in the box with the new cap and doesn't get put on. therefore causing condensation inside cap and hesitation. unfortunately i see it on astro vans where i have to removed the engine bay cover inside the vehicle.
On another note sometimes wet spark plug wires will cause same problem

Water is getting in your distributor cap somehow I would replace it and run a little bead of high temp silicone under it before installing that should fix your problem

Idle rough in gear

Definitely the plugs too. If the wires are many years old, good to change them. If they are the original wires, definitely change them.
Also new gas filter, and new air filter.

My 1997 gmc sierra has a hesitation problem change gas filter, spark plugs, wires, rotor cap and is still the same

Did you check the timing?

Mine would idle rough and hesitate. I replaced all kinds of parts before finding out it was a bad ECM (computer) I found a used one for 50 bucks or so that fixed it.

I have hesitation on my 95\gmc \Pickup\ 5.0 Litre

you need three things for you engine to work right.Air fuel and spark. The timing could be off,the fuel filter may need to be changed, and your throttle body could need cleaning.

97 Chev Tahoe will not start after rain

A very old and persistent problem with GM vehicles, especially the 350 (5.7) V-8, is similar to what you're are describing, runs like **** when it rains. What was (is) usually the problem, is a small crack not usually visible to the human eye, in the distributor cap. It a cheap and easy fix, just replace it at the local auto store. The good 'ol boy fix was to remove the cap and spray with carb cleaner, etc, to remove the moisture and put it back in place, works if you're 16 years old, broke, and dad has carb cleaner....

95 GMC hesitation

By "OVERDRIVE '' . are you meaning the TCC ( torque converter clutch ) is engaged ? and if so, when you increase RPM's to accelerate, it should disengage otherwise causing a noticeable hesitation. Hope this helps

HAVE YOU HAD YOU THROTTLE BODY AND OR YOUR CAM SHAFT SENSOR CHECKED OR YOUR AIR TEMP SENSOR ? IT MOST LIKELY SOUNDS LIKE YOUR AIR TEMP SENSOR IS'NT LETTING ENOUGH AIR IN OR OPENING YOUR MASS AIR FLAP ENOUGH WHEN ITS COLD OUT CAUSING THIS.
