Question about 1998 Dodge Caravan
I have had the same trouble with my 1998 Dodge Caravan, so has my neighbor on both of his caravan vans and We have found that if we slap down on the dash above the temperature gauge it will work just fine.
we both lose speedometer and fuel guages too! Same fix
about once a month I will have to slap it, to get my guages back, and stop the alarm.
I believe it is a bad soldiering connection in the dash but it is not worth chasing it down when I can get by without it.
when the post said the van worked fine after being towed it is because the connection was made while the van was jostled around being loaded and transported

Same problem starts and shuts off in two to three seconds. Instruments not working when this happens as if something is shutting the system down.

After long time that i have to visit this site, i found out that many of you
have now my old problems with the electrics and the electronics of the same van 1998,dodge caravan.
so the solusion is hinding under the ****.
1) open the engine door cover
2)at the right up, next to the battery is a black box 30-35 cm long and 10 cm wide
and has a cover were if you open you find many small quadrands and
secure plastic:ambers from 10 to 40amp.in collors.
a) if you like to fix it, you have to unskrew the all box to clear the conections inside.
b)shake it or move it a bit or hit it a bit to reconect.
you open it and shake by up and down side.with your hands.
this will bring back the electrisity in the instuments panel and
you can start again
I hope that was helpfull to you.
