Trying to replace my fuel filter, is there a shut off?

Before taking a wrench to the fuel filter to replace it I would like to know if the fuel is pressurized and if so can you tell me where the shut off switch is located? Note: 4 banger with a SOHC

It will be pressurized but you dont need to shut it off it will only momentairly spray out just put a wrench on it and wrap the wrench with a shop rag or somethin over the fitting

How can I tell if my fuel filter is bad on a 2001 Yukon xl or if it's the fuel pump

Take off the fuel filter and see if it's clogged up. If it not clogged up, hook up a fuel pressure gage to the fuel line while you already have the filter off, then check the pressure coming from the fuel pump.

Hi! tpeterson277
Fuel Filter. Sorry I have not worked on this exact model but usaly mounted near fuel tank or on frame rail. Purchase a new filter and check fuel lines. May need tubing wrenches. On rare occation a car has bottomed out and crushed the fuel line. There should be a JIC fitting on the fuel rails as there is a fuel regulator and return line to the tank. I use my A/C gauges with a 3/8 R12/R22 fitting to check fuel pressure, could be 44 psi, but may vary with engine. If fuel pressure is to low the Fuel pressure regulator needs replaced.

My 2003 toyota camry is shutting off @ red lights. I think it's the fuel filter...i was told by a few people that the filter is in the tank/pump. I found the fuel pump. Is the filter inside? Is it...

Stand in front of the Camry and locate the fuel filter.Open the hood of your car. The fuel filter on a 2003 Toyota Camry is located in a black container near the driver's side of the car. If you are unsure of what you are looking for, find your fuel line and trace it to a black container about 3 inches in diameter; this holds your fuel filter.Detach the fuel line from the black container, using a wrench. You might need two wrenches, one to stabilize the hex flange and the other to unscrew the fuel line. Once you have removed the gas line, you should see the fuel filter. If you remove the gas cap this will help in allowing air in the system , remove the bottom line first .Using a wrench, remove the fuel filter by taking out the screws holding it in place. Replace the old fuel filter with a new one, securing the new filter in place with the screws you have just removed.

Replacing fuel filter 2000 impala

Disconect battery and releive the fuel pressure by opening gas cap and under hood with fuel pressure tester. then you need two open ended wrenches.. Go to driver side rear tire and just in front of the tire about a foot under the car you will see the fuel filter remove filter mounting bracket apply one wrench to filter nut and one to fuel line side and turn oposite directions, might want to spray with some penetrating oil fist to break loose, then remove plastic clip from other side of the fuel filter and it should come right out.

It sounds like the fuel filter may have reached it life time and needs to be replaced. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles if not once every year to ensure that the fuel system is running 100%. A dirty fuel filter is the #1 cause of fuel pump failure due to extra heat created to push the gas to the fuel injectors, the other cause is running the gas tank less then 1/4. It's the gas that keep the fuel pump cool and not running hot.
Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter which should be located On all C/K's of this body-type 88-98, the fuel filter is located under the driver's side door inside the frame rail near the crossmember that supports the tail of the transmission. Replace it with AC Delco part GF-626, FRAM part G3727, or other comparable brand corresponding metal bodied filter. You should use a flare-nut wrench for the line fitting and one for the filter fitting. I'm not sure of the size needed for the filter, but the line should be 5/8"
For SFI engines ('96 and later) you need to bleed off the pressure in the line. Locate the pressure test port on the fuel rail under the hood, remove the cap, press valve to relieve line pressure and recap valve. If ground clearance is not high enough to get under vehicle and work, raise it with jack and rest frame on jack stands.
Caution: Fuel in lines and filter will run out once fittings are undone. Use fuel safe container to catch fuel spill.
Take wrenches and hold filter from rotating, while loosening line fittings. Remove Filter from bracket by sliding and manipulating fuel lines for clearance, and slide filter out of bracket.
Reassembly is reverse of disassembly. Tighten fittings snugly. Reconnect battery, turn ignition on (do not start). Pump will make brief whirring sound - less than 5 seconds. Check for leaks. No leaks - good. Now you can drive again.
Hope that helps, keep me posted. Glad to know you got your truck running 100% again soon.

How do I replace a fuel filter on my 2005 Tahoe

First contact your dealer as Ford has a recall on that year model fuel filter, it is an inline tyep on the frame rail that requires wrenches to replace. You can get them at any parts house but check with your dealer about the recall first, might get for for free!

Where is the fuel filter located and how do you change it. Can this be done without going to the garage.

The filter is right behind the fuel tank and is parellel to the tank is about three inches in diameter, first you have to diconnect the negative terminal of your batterie, second relieve the pressure on the system, to do so start you car and remove the fuel pump fuse your car will die shortly after. to remove the incoming line to the filter you may need a special tool that would be available from your dealer or posssibly a auto tool store, to remove the output line you will need two types of wrenches a large open end to hold the filter assembly and a flare nut wrench for the nut (it is very important to use the wrench on the filter body to prevent twisting your fuel line), you will have to remove the bracket for your filter also....Good luck!!

if its not the fuel filter more than likely its your fuel pump.fuel filter is under your van around your fuel tank some where.you need metric wrenches to take it off. be careful not to twist your gas lines when taking off filter.good luck

1998 Accord EX won't start

look under the car at the gas tank .look for small metal fuel lines that goes to a small little round metal canister that is mounted to a bracket with a bango fuel line connected to it.thats the fuel filter.FIRST RELIEVE FUEL PRESSURE BEFORE REMOVING FILTER.YOU LOOSEN GAS CAP.THEN YOU GET RAGS TO CATCH GAS THEN YOU GET INLINE WRENCHES.TAKE INLINE WRENCHES AND BARELY LOOSEN LINES AT THE FUEL FILTER TO RELIEVE GAS PRESSURE.USE RAGS TO CATCH GAS.WHEN YOU PUT THE NEW FILTER ON BESURE TO GET NEW BANJO WASHERS.DO NOT USE THE OLDS ONE ARE YOU WILL HAVE A GAS LEAKS.WHEN YOU FINISH REPLACING FUEL FILTER.TURN CAR IGNITION IN ON POSITION FOR A FEW SECONDS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NO GAS LEAKS.
