Question about 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood
Your problem may be in the connector where it plugs into the sending unit if the terminals are spread and not making good contact you will have voltage drop and cause the pump to overheat.
check with your car Quest dealer and see if they have a pig tail that you can solder onto your harness this will most likely solve your problem
