check the oil level then the oil pressure with a gage.if this is okay then how long has it been since the oil was changed as very dirty oil gets so thin that it won`t do its job.you may just have normally worn engine components if you have a high mileage car.the oil pressure will help with the diagnoises.and direction of repair
Turn key ignition forward but do not start engine. Pump gas pedal fully 3 times then engine light will start flashing. Do not pump gas pedal short quick pumps. After light is flashing turn ignition off then start engine. The check engine will reset it's self.
