I have oil leak in my 1996 Lincoln town car. Just had a oil change last month a now my dip stick says add and check engine light is on.

How's the motor look around the valve covers, just because the oil light comes on doesn't mean the only problem is low oil, could mean low oil pressure, which is caused by many reasons.

Overfilled oil in 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage

if this is engine oil just undo the engine drain plug you will obviously need a large flatish tray to catch it in ,if its the tranny same thing but let it all out and start again with fresh fluid check manual for quantity, the consequences can be quite damaging to the engine if driven and more so for the tranny so do before drivig again

OIL LEAKING COMING OUT OF DIP STICK HOLE

sounds like you engine cant vent so its using the weakest point the dipstick, check your engines breathing system and the pcv valve it might be blocked, find it connected to the air filter housing with a hose , it should rattle when you shake it if not replace it.

How do I top-up the transmition oil in my 1988 Mitsubishi Lancer. I can locate the dip-stick, but not the location for topping up the oil. Regards Ian

Use a funnel and put in the transmission oil through the transmission dipstick tube. Don't put too much. Insert transmission oil in increments just to be sure.

Hi I've got 2door rav4 1995 model. Its got a dip stick at the bottom of the engine. I was wondering what is that for coz my rav4 is leaking oil and that dip stick is giving me low in oil. Hope you can...

The dipstick shows your engine oil level. If it is low, add oil to the engine by locating the oil cap. Usually has the word oil on it or "Engine Oil for Gasoline Engines) on it. As for the oil leak, try and locate it as soon as possible.

2000 vw jetta 2.0 checked oil no oil showed on dip stick. saw that oil leaked into coolant system. replaced head gasket w/ new head bolts. flushed system, drained oil, new filter. after all done no oil...

Most likely place for oil into coolant is oil cooler, the aluminum box that mounts between the oil filter and a flange that comes off the block.

I want to locate where the gear box oil goes in my vautomatic vitara 1996 model

Gear Box Oil refers to manual transmission normally. Goes in a 1/2 inch or so hole in the side of the box. You don't need to add unless it is leaking. Remove the plug and put your finger into the hole. If you get oil on your finger, it is full.

I'm not familiar with a 'vautomatic' ... if this is a type of automatic in the Suzuki (I am a Suzuki MC expert) you will find the dip stick in the engine compartment. There will actually be two dip sticks ... one for engine oil (black) and one for the trans (oil should be red or pink). If it is dark or smells burnt, have it replaced.

Spurting oil

Where is it leaking from? Right at the drain plug, or around the filter, or somewhere else? If it's the drain plug, go to the parts store and ask for a new oil drain plug crush washer - most cars have them, and it's not a bad practice to change them every other oil change. If it's around the filter, either the filter isn't tight enough, or it may be leaking due to the process you used - did you dip your finger in the new oil and rub some onto the gasket at the top of the oil filter? That's a necessary step to ensure the filter seals against its mount. It's also a good idea to clean up the mating surface where the filter seats, so that you can be as sure as possible that you will have the best seal that you can.
