if you have a visible chip on the key (resistor), the car may not be able to read the signal and go into fail safe mode.

Also try to unlock the car from the drivers door to see if there is an alarm issue. The disarm wire is attached to the key lock cylinder in the drivers door.

i dont have a whole lot of expierience with those. i do know that there is a security sensor in the key. when the key wears down it wont even crank. you have to get new ones from a dealer

you will have to go to the dealer for this fix. They may be able to cut you a key from the VIN number. If not then a new ignition lock and key, then it will have to be programmed to the computer.

Try setting the alarm ,and make sure the hood doors and trunk are closed,after setting the antitheft,leave it for 1 minute and disarm it,then see if it will start,if it is not the antitheft,and it is in the key fob,the cylinder you are talking about maybe the problem.

if it truly is a key issue and you got a new key you still need the key programmed with the computer

The car is not reading the key and thinks someone is trying to steal it. Try another key or see a dealer.

try to take the door key and lock and unlock both doors and try that.

I had that same problem and it took me forever to figure out what was wrong. You are probably using an aftermarket key as was I. The stupid little plastic/metal chip in the shaft of the key is for the security system. Sometimes if you insert the key and turn too fast it sets off the security system. To solve the problem go get another key made from a different key maker, they cost around $15-20. Or, insert the key slowly and turn the ignition slowly. Or go get a good key from the dealer, I've heard it may be ~$50 for this key but it should work the best. FYI I still just use my aftermarket key and just deal with the occasional no start wait 3 min ordeal. Good luck.
