Hello
lts get qa few things strait a automatic trans does not have syncronizers thay are only in manual trans.
i wouldnt spend much on this trans except a trans cleaner i dont recomend flushing the trans yet until we know if this is a valve body problem or a blown seal or burnt clutches , how dark is the trans fluid?
if its realy black you have burnt fluid due to slippage in the trans clutches.
if it not realy black i would recomend trans tune made by seafoam i have had great luck with this product we just need to clean the valve body and a flush job just wont do as good as a job of cleaning the valvebody as the trans tune will . this is just the start of your dianostic procedure.
you didnt mention any engine light being on so i didnt hit on that subject.
trans tune
Dear Sir/Madam,
In automatic transmissions the second to third syncronizers always seem
to go bad first, the syncronizers are worn, bad or gone. This is common
in these transmissions. Also you might check your trans fluid level,
sometimes a low level will cause the transmission not to shift
correctly.
Also try....
You need to monitor data stream in computer. If it is mentioned as code 12 is transmission speed sensor. @ $15 at autojunk(autozone)
thanks
good luck
Flush transmission completely and do trans service (new filter /fluid)...replace one Qt of trans fluid with TRANS-X and lets hope we got her in time ...trans-x is a hydraulic fluid with solvents and conditioners that removes varnish and tarnish inside working parts and passages in valve body ..... good luck

1st. solution sounds good, but would like to hear other thoughts before spending money. I watch rpm's go up as trans. trys to shift. seems worse going uphill or downhill.
checked fluid level after running vehicle and getting trans fluid hot. still not shifting properly. fluid level is a bit above high mark. L have not added any fluid since I purchased jeep 1 yr. ago. have put about 13k on it since purchased. bought at 97k miles. Though both solutions are different, they seem to have the fluid as a common possible fix. Am on fence. Maybe another thought?
yes. i feel I now have a direction in which to head. hopefully flush will do the job!
