SOURCE: radiator fan doesn' run

If you can apply 12volts directly to the fan connection and it runs, then the fan thermostat is your problem. If a direct connection does not work, then the fan motor has failed and will need to be replaced.

2005 gmc yukon fan relay location

In the under hood fuse / relay box ! There are three of them COOLFAN/relay 1-2-3 . It's marked on the under side of fuse box lid .
The engine cooling fan system consists of 2 electrical cooling fans and 3 fan relays. The relays are arranged in a series/parallel configuration that allows the powertrain control module (PCM) to operate both fans together at low or high speeds. The cooling fans and fan relays receive battery positive voltage from the underhood fuse block.

How do I troubleshoot the radiator fan, it never kicks on.

First, unhook the battery. once you are sure that the fan can not kick on, reach down and spin it. See if it spins freely and does not get caught on anything. Then make sure it spins smoothly and quietly. if not you probably need a new fan motor. If it spins freely and quietly try running jumper wires to it from the battery. See if it operates. If the motor checks out as good then you move up the system to the fan relay. Make sure your wires are in good shape and not grounding out on anything and check the relay. Make sure you have a good 12v source. Make sure you have a 12v signal going to and from the thermostatic switch.

What causes both cooling fans to not run?

Hi Naomi , there is a lot involved in the control of the cooling fans on your vehicle ! There are three fuse's , three relays an a fan control unit !
1. radiator fan main relay , located in underhood relay box A
2.condenser fan relay , located in underhood relay box A
3.radiator fan relay , located in underhood relay box C
4.Cooling fan fuse # 47 20amp. underhood fuse / relay box
5.condenser fan fuse # 50 20amp in underhood fuse / relay box.
Any one of these could cause them to not work, rather then just replacing parts an wasting money you should take it to the repair shop !

Who know how to bypass coolent fan Thanks

it's not easy but it can be done, need a relay with harness and some wire. you must tap into the fan wire(positeve 12v) and run it to the switch side of the relay tap power(12v) constant to the relay and also a switch(12v) source and a ground ok it sounds hard but hre's a diagram 29968290-87b0-4ec1-8bba-df60277f7b84.gif

Radiator fans

It may be your relay! A way of checking is unplug the fan and put a test light on the plug itself with a/c running and if it doesnt have any power going to the fan with a/c on then your a/c fan relay is probably bad!

2001 vw cabrio radiator fan doesnt turn on

You should be able to jumper the relay to make the fan run. If you do that and the fan does not run, expect to find a bad fan motor.
If you jumper the relay and the fan runs, and the relay is good, the problem is in the computer or wiring to the sensor.

2004 jeep grand Cherokee's radiator fan won't run on high

Hi Al, I'm glad to help!

Three possible causes: (1) The high speed circuit in the radiator fan motor could be defective. (2) The high speed fan relay Could be defective. (3) It possibly may have a wiring issue. I've seen at times where you can wiggle the fan motor connector that's mounted on the fan shroud and the motor will kick on. If this is the case then replace the hole assembly which is a motor and shroud assembly. Hope this helps and have an awesome day.

My camry 1993 engine is heating up while idling or in traffic also when ac is on. drives well on high speed without overheating

You have a radiator fan motor that is not running either due to a thermostatically controlled temp switch,(Located on the back of the radiator) a failed fan relay (in the engine compartment fuse /relay box) or a bad fan motor.
You can troubleshoot by checking for 12V DC to chassis ground at the fan motor temp switch. If you have power in you can jumper with a wire the switch wires and see if the fan runs. If it does not run then you need to check the fan relay and motor.

To test the fan you can run a wire from the battery to the fan and another wire to chassis ground to see if the fan runs. If after directly connecting 12V DC to the fan motor and it does not run the fan has failed.

As far as the you either replace it with another one or... have to figure out which 2 wires control the fan motor and jumper them out to see if the fan runs.

Coolig fans dont run

the cooling fans are run by a relay it's located in the junction box. check this. there is also a thermoatic sensor located near the fans next to radiator. the fans should free spin when the engine is off this is a good indiacator that it's not the fan themselves. if the relay checks out(run engine and switch the fan relay with the a/c clutch relay when the engine reaches 180 degrees you will feel the upper radiator hose get hot the fans will turn on a short time later iof they don't it's the temp sensor near the radiator if they do it's a bad relay...please rate this thanks
