Question about 1997 Chrysler Sebring
I just returned from a 6 month deployment to the middle east, and tried to start my 1997 Sebring convertible after replacing the battery. I have two problems: 1) the car starts for about five seconds then stalls, and 2) the alarm will not shut off.
I can hear the fuel pump kicking on when I turn the key to "on." As I said, the car runs fine for perhaps 5 seconds, then stops as if starved for fuel. If I try to restart, it just cranks over. If I turn it to "off" then try to restart it will again run for five seconds.
As for the alarm, I've tried manualy locking and unlocking all the doors (I don't have the remote). The power door locks and the trunk release seem to be disabled.
Could these two problems be related? Any help would be much appreciated.
You need to disarm the alarm, the 2 problems are related, the start and stall is caused by the fuel pump interupt function of the factory alarm, you triggered it when you replaced the battery, The reset procedure is in the owners manual.
