Question about 1999 Honda Accord

1997 honda accord,6 cylinder

Every time i wash my car by hand,the engine light comes on,unless i start the engine (after the wash) and run for about 5 minutes,no engine light comes on.
to reset the engine light,i diconnect the battery,ok
q:whats my problem?

Ok - are you washing the engine too?If so you need to spray down all electrical wires with a silicone spray to stopwires from shorting - when were spark plug wires last replaced?

What happens when slave cylinder goes out on a 1997 honda accord


Your clutch pedal will have no resistance other than the spring return and you will not be able to shift the car into any gear with the engine running. Also, any gear that the car is in will be engaged when you try to start the car unless you shift the gearbox into neutral before cranking the engine. Be careful in this situation since the car will try to move when cranking.

I'm trying to find the cylinder heads on a 2006


The spark plugs screw into the cylinder heads cyls 1,3 5 will be on the drivers side of the engine. 2,4 and 6 will be on the opposite side of the engine.

Honda accord legend will not start it is not the battery


please dont tell us its not the battery, (like chopping off my hands)
ALL ANSWERS are USA answers, (USA marketed cars, never others, unless you ask me.)
unless you jumper started the car with a running car, you can not say that. (assumptions are the destruction of rational diagnosis)
never assume. do the tests. or fail..... and go broke guessing.....

my wild guess ? is the car will not crank.?????
(most posters dont know the diffr between cranking and starting)
This is an EFI gas engine (otto cycle, tech)
and as such needs fast cranking to start. No crank , no joy.
does it? YES< then the battery IS good but you never said.why.?
next: let's do the full list:

1: all fuses are good, i checked them with a ohmmeter (0 ohms each)
2: MY HEAD LIGHTS WORK with full brightness. y/n. key off then on.
3: i key on, all normal warning lamps glow, this is the lamp self test
and proves all majors have full power, the lamps are not DIM. !

4: i pay close eye attention to the CEL lamp it must glow
or the PCM has no power. fix THAT first.
5: (the tech ,next makes the bad guess the engine is good and compression is over 150psi on all cyl.. ,) a $20 tool and 30min work.

6: he cranks the engine and he then checks for spark ,at all cylinders not just one, takes all (or most) to start.
if spark is bad , out comes the scan tool and looks for DTCs errors stored, cranking for 5 seconds, he sees CKP bad... bingo...
or CMP bad, bingo 2. or RPM dead, or spark errors. Bingo x4?
PURE HARD CODED LOGIC:
the ECU/PCM is smart, it never fuels then engine, if it even suspects bad park, so not checking spark and DCT'S, is a HARD Fail now.
this logic stops TV like crash an burns, (or even hyrdalocking)
NO DTCs cranking !
7: OK, spark is good and timed right if timing is off, the cam belt slipped (on honda's the head valves no bend) skipping 60k tune up's is a bad plan on all honda';s (i promise)
yes, i even check timing on DIS igitions, that say in the book,no timing adjustments. see, ? this is bs. we always check the timing
and see that its its off and the cam in fact slipped. even chains slip on cars with zero service and crazy drivers. (drives with chain screaming guts out crazy)
so we are at fueling.
i did my 60,000 mile tune up and spark parts are new and filters fresh.
i find 2 possibles
over fueling (flooding)
or fuel starvation
those 4 or 6 spark tips speak volume here..
read them.
if they are alldry, i try spray test fuel.

the above is GENERIC,
on honda's
we do hand leak down test. (leak down compression tool)
if its bad, stop. the belt slipped and the valves are bent.
do not crank this engine, ever. like this.
fix it.
99.9% of all Honda's are interference engine and i assume the worse. with no starts. (or cascade it to worse , i will)

no compression on all cylinders????????? or just 1.
1: the valves were bent. at the belt snap?, (skipping 60k service !@)
2: you timed the cam wrong.
3 : The system uses the i-VTEC system to turn off one bank of cylinders under light loads
so maybe this feature is active? and you didnt check all cylinders for
compression? ???? try all 6 and post.
did you follow all steps in the FSM to do this job? y/n
or alldata.com ????

4: did you have the HLA valve lifters out. and not prime them? per FSM.
if you like this car, why not own a FSM. (or equiv)

never ever crank over any interference engine after any major work
(heads off, cam belt, change,or lost compression)
until:
1: you turn engine over by hand, sparks out.
2: then run a cyl. leak down test, first. on all 6
if not ,the 7 HP starter can in FACT bend valves.
that be Rule 1. (or $$$$$$$_)

Sometimes after my 1997 Honda Civic has run for a while, say I make a stop and when I go to start up the car it just has issues starting again. It doesnt seem to help if I give it some gas but if I wait a...


does the d4 light start blinking? usually it is the main relay. the soldering joints on the main relay dry up and when they get hot, loose contact, which is why the car doesnt start up right away.

this is the main relay from autozone. it seems to be the same one for 4 cylinder and 6 cylender engines.

The 2.7 L - V6 engine in a 1996 Honda Accord is : 1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 The distributor rotor turns COUNTER-CLOCKWISE
The engine cylinders / spark plug locations are numbered :

I have a 1997 honda accord lx 6 cylinder 24 valve engine that the check engine light is on and the D4 light was blinking yellow and then now is blinking green. what could be the problem?


The check engine light comes on if there is an issue.But Honda also has preset the Check engine light to come on to remind you of oil changes.If you want to shut the Check engine light off.There is a Yellow Reset Button inside the Fuse panel.

I just got done putting an engine in one of these. the chances are your clutch is not releasing all the way, or you have internal damage to the transmission. you can try to bleed the clutch by having a buddy pump the clutch 30 times or so and on the last pump have them hold it down so you can open the bleeder on the slave cylinder. repeat this 6 times, going 5 pumps less each time untill you reach 0. keep plenty of replacement fluid on hand to keep the clutch master cylinder full, if that don't help even a little, I'd start suspecting the transmission itself.

sounds like a fuel filter or more likely a fuel pump fault.low fuel transfer pressure,possibly a dealer would be cheaper than a diy repair unless you have the diagnosis correct.
