Question about 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio
At first my car was not starting. It ended up being the ignition coil. Now it starts, but when I switch gears it stalls out. I have a automatic so it does not do it while I am moving. When I am parked somewhere it takes several attemps to take off again. I am waiting for the day that it doesn't.
Please help me. NO one seems to know what is wrong. I took it to the shop and they said that it was not doing it for them. They want me to come get it and calll them when it does it again.
There are several problems that could be the cause. Below are the possible problems. i'm sorry that I couldn't narrow it down for you. Maybe you should have your engine scanned .
Clogged or dirty fuel filter
Damaged, worn, or deteriorating spark plug or coil wire(s).
Fouled, damaged or broken spark plug(s).
Fuel System Pressure

Check the MAP sensor. To see if this is the problem, assuming that the Jeep won't start but is turning over, unplug the MAP sensor and then plug it back in. If you can start it now, the MAP sensor needs to be replaced. The MAP sensor is located in the engine compartment, where the firewall meets the body at the top of the engine compartment, on the driver's side. Good luck. check map sensor first!
