I am having a problem starting my 1991 dodge stealth. We put a new battery, new starter, new battery terminals and replaced one of the ground wires from the battery to the starter because the wire was bad. Its trying to start but it won't do you have any ideas?

I have a 1991 Dodge Stealth SOHC. It had the same problem and I replaced the fuel pump, filter, and pretty much took the car apart to no avail. Finally took it to a mechanic and it was the main computer that's located underneath and behind the radio/cd player. He got one from the junkyard for $200 and it fixed it.

The problem was the main computer located behind the radio/cd player. He replaced it with one from the junkyard ($200) and it works fine now.

It could be your fuel pump , even if the pump kicks in, it has to pump approx 40 pounds of pressure to the fuel rail

Not starting its a 91 dodge dakota.i drove it to the store for about 2 miles.then 10 mins. later .tryed to go to work.....and it would not start.try to jump it off and that did not work.is there a way to...

to check a starter relay you need to remove relay from fuse/relay panel. then with a ohm meter check for continuity between terminal 87a and 30 for continuity. and then check between terminals 87 and 30, there should be no continuity between 87 and 30. you will have continuity between 87a and 30. if this all checks out then check for resistance between 85 and 86. it should read 70-80 ohms. if this all checks out then rig up a jumper wire from positive post on battery to terminal 86 and ground terminal 85. the relay should click. if not then replace it with new relay.

Yeah sound like the Mass Airflow sensor (MAF). This is one of those items you really shouldn't get at a junk yard.

Runs real rough up to 1500 rpm and dont hardly idle

Change your fuel filter for starters. I'm assuming you keep up with tune ups so plugs and wires wouldn't be the issue. If you haven't changed your PCV valve in a while I woud change it, or at least clean it. That plays with all sorts of systems. And finally, the most irritating one. the EGR valve. They can cause all sorts of problems so the symptoms can be all over the place. Aside from killing your performance, they also confound mechanics by behaving like other problems. Good luck.

Just bought a new battery and put it on and the car wouldnt even turn over but when i jump it it would start right up but then die 5 mins later

you need to charge the battery and also your charging system it shld not die because the alternator will take over to supply power to the system if it is charging even though the battery is still weak
