Question about 1996 Dodge Dakota
I recently bought a 1996 dakota 3,9. I was told it needs a computer...the asd relay was replaced along with the o2 sensors and wiring harnesses about a2 ft from ecm. There is still a heater circuit code for the upstream sensor. Scan data registers 4.5 volts for that sensor. The harness seems to bee wired right. I also have found fuel pressure to be between 6lbs and 10 with a few key cycles. the vehicle only runs for a few seconds and chugs the whole time. It also has a lean code thats how I got the fuel pressure reading. It does have a seperate fuel pump relay which i have switched.
Sounds like the timing belt/chain has jumped a tooth. If the on board computer were out I am not sure the motor would respond this way. Check timing Good Luck
