I had the same problem. I took the truck into the dealer and there was a computer software upgrade that needed to be installed that altered the shift points in the transmission. After that 10 minute fix, I have had no other issues.

if this is a factory Ford unit then the load and unload mechanism has failed, a common problem, Ford doesn't sell any repair guides or parts to the public, so to get this player repaired u must pulll it out and send it into a Ford approved repair center.

Car will idle but there is no response when

This car uses "drive by wire" technology and uses a sensor to measure gas pedal movement. This sensor the transmits the info to the engine. So there is no mechanical throttle cable. You might have a bad accelator pedal sensor or it could have a loose wire. Take a look under the dash at the pedal and see if you can locate the sensor and verify it is still connected.

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport, 2 dr. 4.0 liter. I am having a problem with the torque converter lockup. It doesnt disengage normally. It will disengage if I tap on the brakes, but after about 3 seconds...

That is the way that the lock up TC should operate. This is what happens:

When the computer sees that you are at a set speed. or light accel, you are in 3rd gear or 4th, it will lock up. If you increase throttle, put your foot on the break or take your foot off the gas it will take it out of lock up. It will wait for a shor time then re-engauge. Hope this helps.
