Question about 2001 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

Heat levels.. My sister has a 2001 Ford Expedition and her heat will only come out full blast her mechanic told her it was the heater blower motor. So we had that changed. well it still only comes out full blast. A few weeks before that he had told her it was the resistor or something and she paid well over 200 to have that fixed. Does anyone have this problem ? If so do you think you could help us please. Thanks.

Thanks I'll have my husband check into that I don't think she's gonna trust that mechanic anymore. She blew enough money on his mistakes.

Need new technician.if the blower motor works even with only one speed than the blower motor works and did not need replacement.sounds like blower motor resistor or resistor wiring, when there is a problem with the resistor or wiring you will only have one speed, this way you atleast have if your tech replaced the blower motor when it worked and did not need replacement then it sounds like he is just throwing parts at it,you have to wonder if he really checked anything.have the resistor and wiring checked and if ok then check the heater control head and wiring.

Front heater will not blow air...heat trickles out... have smelled burning smell when put on high....rear heat works fine

It sounds like the blower motor has burned out. It probably ruined the blower motor resistor at the same time. I think the blower motor is right by the right (passenger side) hood hinge and the resistor is just under the motor.

Heater not working properly

Over top of the blower motor you will see a 4 wire connector hooking up to what is called the blower motor resistor, the wire colors will be OG/BK,LG/WH,YE/RD,BK. It will be held on by 2 clips or screws, this is what is bad and needs to be replaced.

2001 expedition heater does not heat well

I would flush the whole system with radiater flush then replace with new coolant. But make sure the heater is set to full heat when you flush it ( while driving around the block with flush in it) so the small radiater that has the hot water flowing through it gets flushed too. It may have some build up in it stopping the full flow of heated water/coolant through. If it is bad enough may need to remove and spray out the rubber hoses from the motor to the heater core, and possibly remove the heater core and hose it out to make it flow better and therefore increase the heating ability. Hope this helps.
