Horn Staying On

Woke up this morning thinking that alarm clock was going off but instead it was my 2006 Ford F-250's horn that was blasting the whole neighborhood. I disconnected the battery but do not have a manual to locate the fuse for the horn any help out there my neighbors would be very appreciative.

Short on the steering column which necitates removing the steering wheel, which contains the airbag --suggest the dealership as this is special stuff, but it can be done by the owner.with precaution ??disconnect the battery first.which as its an american car you can do on a vehicle this new if it was a europeon renault then you wouldnt be able too as once battery is disconnected then only a dealer can start the vehicle again.anyway underneath the steerring wheel is a carbon brush that runs on a brass ring on the bottom of the steering wheel to make contact ,either brush has broke or the wiring coming up to it.

Where is the horn relay located on a 2007 ford edge sel

It is located in the SJB - smart junction box an it is a non- serviceable part . soldered to the board inside . Where do you hear the clicking noise coming from ? The SJB is located behind the left side kick panel .
SECTION 413-06: Horn 2007 Edge/MKX Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 10/30/2006 Horn The horn system consists of the following components:
  • Horn switches (part of the steering wheel)
  • Clockspring
  • Horn relay (part of the smart junction box [SJB])
  • Horn
For removal and installation of the steering wheel, refer to Section 211-04 .
For removal and installation of the SJB, refer to Section 419-10 .
Principles of Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) supplies the control and switched voltage to the horn relay (part of the SJB). When the horn switches (part of the steering wheel) are pressed, ground is supplied through the clockspring to the horn relay. The horn relay is then energized directing voltage to the horn and enabling the horn to sound. When the vehicle security system is armed, the SJB provides a momentary ground to the horn relay control side to indicate the system is armed, and an on and off ground when an intrusion is detected or the panic alarm is activated.
If your horns are not working ,you have a wiring problem or the clock spring is open . If the relay is bad the whole SJB has to be replace an the dealer would have to do that . Needs to be programmed ,with factory tool .

2006 ford fusion, steering wheel has horn, cruse control that doesn't work, is their a fuse

I would think the clock spring is bad ,the clock spring is ribbon wire wound in side a plastic body inside top of steering column. The steering wheel has to be removed to get at it. It is used so you can turn the steering with out losing power for the horn and cruise control. How cars clock spring works

Horn going off for no reason

If the battery is good then you have a defective door ajar switch, have the dealer keep the car until it can be confirmed that the horn is going off and it is the alarm system, they can scan it and see what the cause is.

The horn honks when I reconnect the battery

Hi,
If the horn only honked once it may be a symptom of your car alarm being set off after power has been re-applied. If the horn stays on after you reconnect the battery you have either a stuck horn button on your steering wheel or a stuck horn relay. Or it could be the alarm sounding the horn but that usually that occurs in a series of horn blasts (rather than continuous) and the car indicators usually flash in sync with the alarm sounding.
If the horn is stuck on in a continuous blast ie not sounding on and then off and then on etc etc, disconnect one the battery cables then pull the fuse that feeds the horn or pull off one of the removable spade electrical connectors from one of the 2 terminals on the horn itself. Usually the fuse box is either under the dashboard on the drivers side or could be under the hood. Consult your user manual for your car for fuse and horn locations.
If the horn is stuck you need to visit a qualified auto electrician, or perhaps you have a friend who knows his way around auto electrics?
Cheers,
Steve (Melbourne, Australia)

A very loud alarm/horn noise coming from the car

The steering wheel horn pad/button doesn't have enough clearance. In very cold weather, the contacts touch, sounding the horn. Replace or repair the horn pad
