Cable or clutch assembly,no its not the norm unless your a very bad driver who has no idea how the clutch works and rests their foot on it all time ,use it to hold vehicle on a hill instead of handbrake and neutral, riding the clutch on every gearchange.old person who has joint problems and rides clutch instead of changing gear .or a boy racer doing burn outs .suggest you get driving lessons on a manual car
