You have a open connection somewhere,do you check the fuses especially the fuseable link at the positive battery post how about the power at the ignition switch it hot at all times, your disconnected somehow you might have to make a jumper wire to find what opened.

The ignition switch isn't hard to replace. Take the column covers off and you'll have to buy tamper proof torx bits to remove the mounting screws. Just unplug the old switch and plug in the new one. The new switch will have new mounting screws with it. It should only take you 20 minutes to replace it even if you've never done it before. Check the operation of the lock and tumbler as well. It's an easy replacement as well. This one only should take you 5 minutes.

SOURCE: wont start

is the earth cable giving a good engine and body contact.does your starter have two terminals and if so are they the right way around?is the battery any good?Is the engine able to be turned over by hand Make sure you have agood 12v supply to the starter solenoid when cranking the engine An engine test probe/light would be of a lot of use for you to do that test

Your alternator should power everything when engine is running. Battery is only for start up. Test voltage with a multimeter when engine is running , should be 14V or more . Any less indicates low alternator output.

Do you have a volt ohm meter check if you are getting voltage to the head lights if you are check the ground if you do not have power to the light sockets you sould get a schmatic for your cars electrical system to start tracing your wireing . Hope this helps

I changed the battery in the car and it still wouldn't start and the windows don't work. the only thing that work is the radio. I can't even get it to change gears

Do the ignition lights come, Lights, etc??? It could be the ignition switch, maybe the eletrical switch is stuck in Aux even though you are turning the key in the barrel, you may not be turning the electrical switch underneath. Hope this is helpful. Ian

My ignition switch will not disengage when you

it sounds like the ignition switch itself if you pull the plastic off the steering column and turn the key you will see a metal rod that moves back and forth running to a plastic switch with quite a few wires running out of it this is actually what controls all the electrical contacts when you turn the key on or off

2000 mustang lights

beleive it or not it could be a problem tied into either some of the wiring to do with the ignition such as an ignition fuse.another option is for you to remove the fuse paneling and checking to make sure all of the connections are o.k
