Question about 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

2002 golf tdi

My car is a 2002 volkswagon tdi diesel. The problem is it will not rev over 1500 rpm it takes a few kilometers to get it just to 50 miles an hour. I changed the fuel filter, air filter, glow plugs and cataletic converter.if I upshift at a lower rpm then it accelerates a little quicker.the fuel flow is great pressure at each injector.if I barely push the pedal I can feel the car spuddering then push it more the spuddering goes away but it will not accelerate. T most I can get in speed over a 30 mile run is 50 miles an hour.and it takes 20 minutes to get up to that.when I take the oil filler cap off and hold my hand over the filler hole I feel puff puff puff against my hand. Is it a blown head gasket or a stiky valve. if a sticky valve how can I fix the problem cheap without a top end rebuild. The car has 389000 kilometers and has not had a oil change in about 100000 thousand kilometers. I was told when I bought the car new that synthetic oil has 0 break down so You change the oil about every 80000 kilometers so guess I am a little over due. I heard some kerosene in the oil will clean the valves or maybe spray water in the intake to steam the valves clean but this sounds like steaming the valves can increase the heat and blow a piston or a rod.

What should I expect the cost to be for removing the engine head to diagnose locked up engine on Volkswagon Jetta TDI, 2002?

this could be quiet expensive, try and get insurance if the engine was in a flood, expect around the $1500 mark for the inspection and another $2000 for parts and labour

1.9 Litre blows black soot and wont go over 40 kilometers an hour

you probably need a new mass air flow sensor. disconnect and drive it. I had the same problem and when I disconnected the sensor it ran good.

2002 volkswagon tdi lacks power

easy soloution ...disconnect the vacumn pipe going to the valve which sits on the inlet manifold and underneath it is a pipe which runs into the exhaust manifold.dont spray the water one as if you put too much water in you could hydraulic a piston and bend a con rod.either try removing the vac pipe if that doesnt work then remove the valve and block off the connection by making a gasket from a coke can but without the hole in the middle or fill the pipe up with an exhaust putty (gun gum) with a bit of tin foil on the exhaust side .promise you this will cure your problem cheaply .old vehicles never had none of this antipolution stuff on them and they ran ok.also you will still pass the emissions test for the anual inspection
