out of nowhere truck will just turn over without starting. cranks great and I hear the fuel pump running. hav'nt checked the ignition yet but once i wait about 10 mins it starts up just fine like nothing happened.....

its not the fuel pump, or the battery, or the fuel pump relay i believe it is electrical demons or the starter, by the way the starter is near impossible to get too
good luck email me if you find something i have another thought that it might be the ignition switch possibly

just shut off on day. didn't hear the humming of the fuel pump so thought it was the fuel pump. Replaced it and still won't crank. Fuses are all good but the only thing is to have power to the fuel pump fuses you have to turn the truck over. i know on my older truck you can hear the fuel pump come on as soon as you turn the key on. relay is good. took the fuel lines off at the engine and turned truck on and turned over and no fuel came out of it. checked power on the fuel pump and wasn't getting any.

My 2004 Colorado did this exact thing I thought it was the battery. But it was until some one told me it happened to their GMC also. He said its a the passlock. It is a passive theft-deterrent system.Passlock enables fuel if the ignition lock cylinder is turned with a valid key. He then told me i turned the key to fast and it didn't read it. If a correct key is not used or the ignition lock cylinder is tampered with, the fuel system is disabled and the vehicle will not start. If the engine stalls and the security light flashes, wait about 10 min until the light stops flashing before trying to restart the engin. And remember to release the key from start as soon as it starts.

Coryfrias solution is very reasonable but I have had the same problem with mine and my solution was to replace the cam and crank sensors, which can be done by the average person and is quite inexpensive(only about 50 dollars).

By your description, it sounds like the starter motor is not working proper. You can tap on the starter with a hammer sometimes to at least make the starter work. Make sure the truck wont run over you,but hold the key in the start position while tapping starter with a hammer. If the starter works ,then the starter needs to be replaced. If it doesnt work, then you will need to remove starter and have it tested before you replace it.. Let me know if that helps

remove the connectors from the eng control module and check for corrosion.the module is located on the firewall on the passenger side.if it is corrroded, clean the connectors and module with a soft brush and spray them with dielectric grease and it should be ok.i have seen this before.
