1998 FORD ESCORT SEDAN

When I come to a stop and begin to go again I hear and feel a loud clunk under the front end of the car. If I stop and do it in reverse, it does not do the make the clunking sound. If I go over bumps and roucgh roadway surface the car also does not make the sound. its only after a complete stop that it makes the clunking sound as I begin to go again.

This noise is caused by the bushings in the brake calipers being worn out

How to change motor mounts on 1998 ford escort 4 door sedan

The exact location varies depending on model, engine size, power and suchlike.

Most models have three mountings and there are no lower ones, though there could be a steady bar or torque reaction mount attached to the bottom of the transmission.

The power unit tends to be mounted with one mount high up on the extreme right and two on the transmission end, one at the back and one at the front.

When i turn it makes a noise dont know if it is power steering fluid low or pump

If its a winding sound its the power steering, if its a clunking sound you should check your tie rods Idler arms (well check the entire front end suspension if you hear knocking, odds are if one part is bad the others aren't far behind) Good luck

Most likely the problem is the steering rack, it is a very easy repair, but you will need to have the front end aligned after you are done installing the rack assembly, make sure all the old fluid is flushed from the system or the new rack will fail from debris left over from the old failed rack
