Spark plugs coming out of the engine

When I go on far drives my car starts popping and when I open the hood some of the spark plugs have came out of the engine

    do you have aluminum engine block? if it is, you need to get inserts for the plug, the threads for the plugs start to go, or already gone.

    are the plugs tighten as to specification or just hand tight?

Oh oh problem!!! your plugs trade are damaged ouy can retreated it with an over sized spark plug but this time make shure you tigh them good to the specification of honda manufactoring

Water Displacement.

If you are old enough... you would remember the dead cars lining the road-way after a decent RAIN Storm.

High voltage systems... particularly like your DISTRIBUTOR hate moisture.

If you are in a hurry... spray down your SPARK-PLUG wires with WD40... use compressed air to blow off all standing water (especially around your SPARK-PLUGs) ... Pop off your distributor cap and sop up EVERY DROP of water from the inside with a clean tissue or paper towel.

If not... open the hood .... disconnect the battery ground terminal, open the distributor (read a few chapters)... and let everything air dry.

Next time you degrease any engine... put plastic wrap all around the DISTRIBUTOR before you start.

What would a knocking machine gun sound be under hood. I just started it and somewhere under the hood is a LOUD Knocking like a Machine Gun sound.


Is it metalling sound ? if that's the case then don't drive it .. you might be having issues with connecting rod or the bearings in the both cases engine will seize. Consult a auto technician, but you wont have engine light on due to this.

If it is knocking due to misfire (which is mostly the case as the engine light is also on) .... than find which cylinder have the issue then clean or replace the spark plug. If you can get a scanner to read the car computer it will solve the issue in a blink. Otherwise start the engine ... open the hood .pull out spark plug connector one by one and notice the change in sound... the one that is bad will have no effect on the sound.

Engine very hard to start when its foggy and it rains


$5 it's bad spark plug wires. Some dark evening, pop open the hood and with a fine mist water squirt bottle and mist the spark plug wires - if you see any arcing they need to be replaced. It may also just be time for a tune-up. High humidity conditions tend to exacerbate problems with weak ignition.

My engine is shaking badly


You likely have a misfire. You will have to scan the code to be sure. You might have something simple as a clogged injector or a dead spark plug.

If you don't have an OBDII scanner, AutoZone will scan it for free but you definitely don't want to drive far until you know what's wrong with it. Chances are you should have it towed to a professional mechanic if you're unable to scan it yourself.

My 2001 Chevy Malibu is shaking, engine light on and I smell oil and rubber. It also is sluggish when I drive it.


My initial thought is that you have no spark in one cylinder. This could be from a bad spark plug or other ignition component failure. Have the spark plugs ever been changed? I would rule this out first, as they are inexpensive, and also under more stress than any other part of the ignition system. If the problem persists, then it's time to look at the spark plug wires or ignition coil.

Start the car and open the hood when it's dark. Do you see/hear sparks coming from the plug wires? Another inexpensive place to start looking.

My truck is making a loud knocking sound when I drive it


first you need to check the oil level (with engine off) if level is good than listen to engine knock with the hood open make sure it is coming from the engine and not the belt tensioner or something external on the engine,if nothing is found than engine will need to be repaired best thing is to bring it to a local shop for evaluation.best not to drive it much longer like this ,it could leave you stranded.

2001 sunfire does not like humidity or being wet. When starting the car the car idles really low and when try to drive car will stop if not pressing on gas. Engine light comes on. Took to garage and the...


U may have an open wire which effects this problem.........Start vech at night with hood open to see if theirs any spark jumping and if not spray all wireing dowm with egnition spray.Hope this helps...To water proof and seal wires.

Where does the firing order start on a 1991 3.8 buick lesabre. 165432


There are six VIN numbers of engines for the 1991 Buick Lesabre, with a 3.8 Liter engine.

1.Vin B
2.Vin 3
3.Vin C
4.Vin 1
5.Vin L
6.Vin K

All have the Firing Order of 1-6-5-4-3-2

For Vin B and 3:
Hood open, looking at the engine from the front of the car. The coil pack is behind the engine, close to the firewall. (Under the windshield)
The crankshaft pulley is down on the left side.

Spark plug numbering, for the spark plugs close to the radiator side.
From Left; (Front of engine), going Right-> 1-3-5
Spark plug numbering, for spark plugs on the backside of the engine.
From Left going Right-> 2-4-6

The distributorless coil pack sits on the backside of the engine, close to the firewall.
Numbering of where to put the spark plug wires;
There are three spark plug towers close to the engine. From Left to Right -> 3-5-7
There are three spark plug towers far from the engine. From Left to Right-> 6-4-2

For Vin C, 1, L and K:

Hood open, facing the car.
The Front of the engine faces to the Right. The crankshaft pulley is down, and to the Right.

Spark plugs close to the radiator;
From Left to Right-> 6-4-2
Spark plugs close to firewall, (Below windshield)
From Left to Right-> 5-3-1

The distributorless coil pack sits on the right side, in front of the engine. (The Front of the engine is on the right side. The crankshaft pulley is on the Right side)

Starting at the ->Back and coming Forward. (To the Front of the car)
On the Left side of the Distributorless Coil Pack, it is -> 4-2-6
On the Right side it is -> 1-5-3

It sounds like you have a miss fire event going on. look for spark jumping from the plug wires to the engine or any metal object. Best way to see is start you truck at night open the hood you should be able to see the spark jumping
