These cars have problems with the intake runners getting stuck and not allowing the engine to start. land rover has updated parts to fix this....get in touch with Atlantic British....they have put together a "kit" that contains all the necessary parts so you dont have to fish around at the dealer.

Hi
remove the heat sensor, start the car and reconnect it again.Switch off the engine and try again, if it starts get your heat sensor replaced.

Kev, could be a fuel pump issue, next time it acts up, repeatedly turn ignition on and off waiting 5-10 sec.s (not turning engine over) do this 10 times to build fuel pressure, then see if it starts.

On humid hot days my truck is finicky about starting. I don't even hear the fuel pump engage

You don't give any info on vehicle, engine...etc, but I think your friend is right about the coil. You have to try and determine if it's fuel or spark. Could be your fuel filter....

sounds like the distributor. over time the distributor could get debris and condensation inside it and cause it to act up here and there.

Freelander cuts out a soon as you touch the throttle after starting and will not start again till 10 to 20 mins after is this an electrical fault? thanks

Try cleaning the fuel pump filter. the filter is on the bottom of the pump inside the tank. You get to the tank from under the seat behind the driver. Job takes 10 mins.

Freelander wont start

it's a starter motor problem, the solenoid contact inside the starter
is dirty give it a good cleanup with a sand paper and it should be fine. I have the same starting problem, I just cleanup the copper contacts and presto! starts in one click. or you can buy a starter
copper contact from under $12 from ebayUK go to freelander starter motor.
